Breast Lift/Breast Reduction Post-ops...

I am just about 2 years and 3 months post-op on my breast lift. I had a slight reduction on my right breast at the same time as my right breast was always slightly larger. Everything healed fine and other than I'm still tender to the point I can't sleep on my stomach and I dread being bear hugged by anyone, I've been perfectly happy with my results - as most everyone has been exposed to. lol

This morning, I was lying in bed and had an itch along the incision line of my right breast. When I went to scratch it, I also found a lump the size of a cotton ball. It startled me as I had never noticed it before. I woke Michael up and asked him to feel it and asked if he'd noticed it before. He said he hadn't, but it's probably scar tissue since I had breast tissue removed from that side.

I come from a family that breast cancer runs rampant. I've had a BRAC analysis and pathology done on the tissue that was removed from my right breast at the time of surgery. Both said my risks were not genetic, which does not mean I'll definitely live a cancer free life, but at least I'm not as high risk as I thought I would be.

I know I need to get in to see a doctor about this, but I haven't even started the process of researching new physicians since we moved. At this point, I still don't even have my house unpacked.

So, my questions are: 1. Are there any other breast lift/reduction post-ops that have found a lump like this? and 2. Can you north Dallas ladies recommend a good OB/Gyn that takes United HealthCare?

Thanks!

Dr Leslie Welborne.

She's also a post-op RNY patient, who has had plastics as well, IIRC.

She's direct, to the point, and totally rocks.  I'm fairly sure she takes UHC as well.

Julie, I'm in Corinth so right in your area :)

I have a fantastic place that I've used for the past 3 years right here in Denton.  In fact they did my lumpectomy 3 months before RNY due to something they saw for my baseline mammo.   I can't recommend a surgeon or facility any higher than this one and they do take UHC as that's also my insurance.

Here's the surgeon's office information - their office is separate but in the same space with the radiologists.  When/if you call just explain the situation and they can get you scheduled.

My OB/GYN office is on the same parking lot, right off 35 @ State School Rd.

If you have any questions, feel free to pm me and good luck!

Hey!
That doesn't sound right- even for a post op. I have never had tenderness past the point of when it truly healed. If you are that tender still there may be an underlying reason and this might be a good time to find the cause of it. I wonder if its possible that you have stitches that didn't get removed? Where my three incision areas came together underneath there was a large stitch put there. It wasn't the kind that absorbs either. My right side got a bit swollen from all the movement and stress that I had put it through. It was the most difficult one to take out and I could see how it could have been missed easily. I'm not implying that this is your case, but hopefully it will be something completely innocuous as this.

I did have a lump a few months ago and had a mammo done. My area was more midline and on my chest wall though. It wasn't tender at all. It turned out to be a large blood vessel...who knew?!?

Good luck!! Keep me posted!

I had exactly the same thing happen to me when I had my breast done.  That has been several years ago (probably around 5 years).  Anyway a lump appeared under my left breast near the incision line & it turned out to be a cyst. I went to my ob/gyn (Dr. Unell in Colleyville), he sent me to a breast specialist (can't remember her name) at North Hills Hospital.  She said she didn't think it was anything to worry about (did a songogram to discover the cyst) & we would jus****ch it.  After probably 2-3 months it dissolved on it's own.  It seems that it was just a result of the trauma to the body.  I too have a history of breast cancer (My Mom) so I was scared just as you are but I'll bet this is the same thing I had.  I'm still getting stiches that were suppose to dissolve to every now & then come from my insicion line of my LBL!!  Strange.  Best of luck to you!

Jenn, get the to a doctor to be safe.  I would also mention being tender....I  haven't had that problem either.  I did have an area where the "T" under the breast had a stitch that came out later and actually opened up the incision some.  Had to use silvadine (sp?) as it didn't want to heal, it took forever.

Jen-
Did you get the lump checked out? I live in Katy but have some friends that live in the Metroplex area and can get an OB/Gyn recommendation if you need one (about where are you?).  I found a lump around the last week of October, had it checked out but wasn't too worried being that I am only 35 and have no history of breast cancer in my family.  Long story short, I have breast cancer.  I am going in for a bilateral mastectomy on Monday and will find out if I need chemo a few days after all the pathology reports are back.  Please get your lump checked out.  Hopefully it will be nothing, but early detection is the key to success!
Hugs-
Yvonne

Yvonne;

Sending you lots of healing prayers! Please keep me posted on your path results. I'll be thinking of you on Monday and beyond.

I haven't gotten to the doctor to have the lump checked out. I was in the ER twice in the past two weeks for what was originally diagnosed as walking pneumonia and was re-diagnosed this week as pertussis (whooping cough). I will be researching OB/Gyns this week while things are slow at the office and try to get an appointment scheduled for as soon as possible after New Years.

Yvonne, I'm so sad to hear this news but thank you for posting so others can understand the importance of doing frequent self breast exams and the need for quick action if a lump is found.  Please post when you're out of surgery to let us know everything went well.  Prayers being said for a successful surgery and complete recovery.
