Dizziness, constipation, diarrhea, nausea
Yes, all of the above.
Back in August, I was taken off the diabetes drug, Metformin, because I had severe, watery diarrhea and throwing up one to two times a day. Surgeon thought I might need the stoma stretched but had no idea what was causing the diarrhea. Cardiologist was the one who took me off Metformin and put me on Glipizide instead. The diarrhea resolved as did the throwing up. Then I had horrible constipation for the next three months. I was going every three days or so, and only with the help of an enema or glycerin.
Then I developed very strange dizzy spells. I'd stand up and walk into the kitchen, and by the time I got there, I had to hold onto the counter or sometimes sit on the floor to keep from falling. My vision would blur and then black out. This was happening several times a day.
My PCP is running a lot of heart tests. I stopped the Glipizide since it did nothing to help my diabetes and asked doc if I could go back on Metformin. The diarrhea and nausea started in again. I stopped that med too, and although I rarely still get a dizzy spell, they are not as severe nor as constant. I don't know what to think.
Is there anyway this could be reactive hypoglycemia or something else? I've had so many complications since my surgery, nothing life-threatening except for the three day run of SVT episodes in July culminating in an ablation procedure to my heart. It's just been really difficult to enjoy the weight loss when I feel sick all the time.

Oh, yes...I told my PCP. That's why he's running all the heart tests. I've already had a carotid artery and heart and abdomen ultrasound. After the holidays, he's doing a holter monitor 24 hour test and something called triple A.
He suspects that one of my medications may be causing it. I take Coreg for heart rhythm issues. He had me reduce it to 6.5 mgs twice daily, but my heart started thumping and racing again, so I bumped it back up to 12.5 twice a day. I was at 25 mgs twice daily.
I'm not having dizzy spells as often, so maybe it's something that will resolve on its own.
