For those of you wondering why Dr. Kim didn't see me today I am sure he was in surgery somewhere. As for what is wrong....it is GAS and FECES !!! Now that being said.....I have a history of gas and constipation. I have been ordered to do MOM every 4 hours. UGH hate that crap but hate hurting and the shooting pains more. Nothing else is wrong...thank God everything checked out OK even on the XRays. Thanks for the prayers and that it is fixable !!!

VIV-are they SURE you don't have a looped or twisted bowel somewhere that keeps getting kinked up? Maybe you've posted about it and I've missed it. Kinked bowels are nothing to play around with.

Gina....not sure. Before the came up with the idea that my gallbladder was bad. I had a CT scan of lower abdomin and upper abs, sonogram of gallbladder and female organs, neucular test on my gallbladder ( the test that determined that the gallbladder wasn't working properly ). Not sure if any of them would show a kinked bowel. I will ask my BA surgeon when I go next wednesday for my 2 week followup visit. I do have major conspitation problems. The PCP did show me the feces and it was WAY up !!! I guess I am just full of gas and SH*T !!! LOL

Vivian, I have to agree with Gina, it could be more than gas or constipation. I'm surprised your surgeon told you to go to your PCP. An obstruction (partial or full) will NOT show up on an X-ray.

You can try the MOM, it does work; HOWEVER, if the pain continues TODAY do NOT wait until next week to see your surgeon. DEMAND you be seen and/or head to the ER. A week with an obstruction won't happen, you might not be alive. Sometimes a kink will unkink itself.....an obstruction won't resolves itself.

Are you passing gas? When was your last BM?

Yes, I'm being pretty frank here, don't take chances if the pain continues get yourself to the ER.

Thank GOD you are OK Dana. I haven't seen you post in a long time. I was about to post on the boards if you were OK. Trust me....I will go to the ER if the pain doesn't go away. I had a BM yesterday and have had one for the last 4 days. It is OK to be frank with me since this is a major problem. I am passing some gas. IS that a good sign??? Hope so. Trust me....I have bugged the heck out of my WLS office. I was experiencing difficulty breathing at night too and they said that was due to swelling at night. Never have experienced all this before though !!! Thanks for the advice and hope that you are recovering well from your surgery too.

Passing gas and having BMs are a good thing, glad you have done your business to a degree. The pain could still be a kink so be sure to watch yourself.

I've never heard of swelling from a gallbladder surgery causing you difficulty breathing but I guess it could. I'd also REQUEST they run your labs to be sure your potassium and such hasn't shifted to the "oops" zone since surgery.

How is the iron situation going?

I am having labs done again in 3 months to check the iron. I just ordered 3 bottles of Tender Iron from Vitalady.com. Hope those will be easier on me. I am taking the 3 BA 60 mg tablets of Iron a day till I get the tender iron. I will ask them about the Potassium levels changing since surgery. All labs were good except the iron was just a touch low. I am going to request copies of my labs when I go in next week so I can monitor them. Thanks for all your suggestions and help.

Thank you....I am slowly but surely feeling better. It is when the gas pains start at night is when I am upset but it could be things that I am eating causing it too. I am trying to be careful since the gall bladder is gone now. The pain from the gas is NO fun at all !!!
