My hubby and I are going to have WLS - gastric by pass in the new year 2010.
Has anyone else had surgery done at the same time as their spouse?

If so, please point me to them as I have questions galore.

Much thanks!!

Hi Tee,

Que & Tom had gastric bypass the same day; hopefully she'll see your post.

There are several of us that have had WLS along with our spouses, just not the same day and possibly not the same procedure.

What type of questions do you have?

You will find several couples, both straight and gay I might add, that have done just that.  Not only have they lost weight together but they have managed to do it without killing each other!  My ex-wife and I were four months apart.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

We aren't having our surgeries simultaneously but my husband is having surgery on the 16th of this month and we are hoping that I will be able to have surgery in January.

I don't have any answers, just questions myself.  However, Steve and I would love to share journeys with you.

Thanks to all that responded! One of my most basic questions would be:

any pitfalls to watch out for along the way?

We are thinking that since we will be on the same game plan that we won't be
as likely to sabotage each other - that sort of thing.

We wonder what the results of WLS will do to our emotions -

Do couples survive the huge changes in their lives???

Those are some of the questions that we throw at each other....

We would love to hear from any and all that have experienced WLS as a couple...

Much thanks!

My hubby and I are 10 minths apart. I think it worked well for us because he was pretty much at goal and had really good tips for me by the time mine rolled around.  He will be 5 years out in January.

Ask away, I'm sure some of us have been there done that!
