Danni, I can ASK the captain to change the dates he sails but I don't think it's possible, lol. The ships only sail certain days of the week and they are set in stone.  I picked the cheapest one they had that still allowed us from the Dallas area to get there and back in the same week.

Cabins are tiny and the $350 price is per person based on an oceanview cabin.  There will be fees and tax added on as well as tips.  I believe Carnival now charges $10 per person per day for tips ($50 each).  So I would plan on closer to $500 per person to be safe.  All food and drinks are included with the exception of alcohol and Cokes.  You can buy an "all you can drink" Soft drink card for $25 per person.  They always have iced tea and lemonade-type stuff available 24/7 for free.  The food is fabulous and is way more than we could ever eat in a day.

You can also bring non-alcoholic drinks on board with you.  Last time (prior to my WLS) I took 24 cans of diet coke with me.  Clay also snuck on some bourbon in a "Snapple Iced Tea" bottle.

Off shore excursions are not included in the price.  It's free to get off the ship and wander around on your own but if you want to do something specific like scuba diving or feeding the stingrays, those trips cost extra.  They have a ton of free stuff on board to do.  Lots of trivia games, dancing and swimming.  Obviously the casino could cost you a little if you feel like gambling.

You can get a passport thru the local post office.  Not sure how much they cost but I know it takes a while to get it so people better not wait too long.

If you go to www.Carnival.com they have a FAQ section that will answer a lot of your questions.  If not, ask away....we've got MONTHS to plan this.

Oh all right - we can sail the day the cap says LOL

I just needed an idea of how much cash I needed to put back - we are working really hard to finish getting out of debt and save while Tim is gone but I am wwwwaaaayyyyy willing to stash back part of my free $ every payday - thinking a thousand dollars PLUS my airfare sounds like I can come and have lots of fun and extras
Home is where the army allows me to live with my husband

I know what I need to do - I have to choose to take care of me or I choose to fail

For sure Danni!!  Jodie is going to fix me up with her travel agent to see if he can work out some upgrades or discounts for a group.  A "group" is 8 or more staterooms so hopefully we'll have that many.  Each room as 2 people to it.  There's no discount for cramming extra people in your room.

Well, I would love to go but school frowns on teachers taking off 5 days to go on a cruise lol (although they don't say a word about taking kids out of school for 5 days because they got a good deal on a ski trip but that's another soap box)

I would also vote for the summer one but this next summer I will be recovering from PS . . .sooo, you all have to go, take lots of pictures, and work out all the kinks so we can make this an annual thing and I can go the next time :-)

Sad day!!  I told Clay we'd have a problem with you, Karla and Paige all working for schools.  I was really hoping it would be possible for you guys to get off.

Are you SURE you need a passport? Last summer Miranda took the kids on a Carnival Cruise out of Galveston and they didn't need one.

Lynne, the law changed for 2009.  It is required that you have a passport if you are going to a forgeign country.
