A Bit of Good News Re: Judy for Thanksgiving
I got an email Wednesday from "Gay", who is the local real estate broker who sold Judy & Don their home in Bandera and has known them since then .. It looks like they had a guardianship hearing on Judy earlier in the day.
Although Don had originally applied to be guardian, it appears the judge did not find him "qualified" (maybe b/c of his highly "emotional" state right now? ) .. However, he did not oppose Gay being appointed guardian in his place, and Judy's court-appointed ad litem attorney apparently also had no problem with the appointment of Gay for Judy. So, Gay is now the guardian of both Judy's person and her "estate", until she regains enough competency to petition the court to have her rights restored. Gay felt it was important that someone come forward and volunteer to become Judy's guardian and be appointed, so she is doing it out of what she said she feels is her "civic duty." Kudos to her.
This means finally Judy's finances will be freed up to pay her much-delinquent bills (Don for some reason was not listed with her on her bank accounts) and other decisions can be made regarding Judy's other property .. This also will expedite needed health-care decisions regarding Judy's treatment as they arise ..
Please continue to keep Don & Judy in your prayers, and that Gay will make the right decisions on behalf of them both in the future.
