Michelle Talks With Judy
Just got this update from Judy's niece, Michelle. I told Michelle how Judy was refusing to eat or even allow them to put in a feeding tube. I'm so glad she called her and they were able to actually talk on the phone. Hopefully Judy feels more inspired now to try and eat! (I wish I could remember what some of her fav foods were!):

Hi all-- I was just able to speak to Aunt Judy. Her speech has improved slightly from the last time I was able to speak to her. I told her I heard that she wasn't eating much and asked her why. She said that she doesn't like the food. I asked her what they could give her that she'd like, and she said nothing. I told her that she needs food for her nutrients, and asked her of she'd please try to eat for me. She said she'd try. I had a good conversation with her nurse, Lisa, who said I could call anytime and she'd transfer the call to a portable phone and take it to her(which is what she did tonight). I told the nurse that her favorite thing is a Starbuck's Caramel Macchiato... Wouldn't it be great if the could take her a decaf with whole milk for a little protein?!!! Other than that, I told her that her least favorite food is cottage cheese. Does anyone else know some favorites so perhaps I could suggest it to the nurse?
So I think that's all for now. Thanks for your continued thoughts and prayers. In this week of thanks, I am thankful for all of you. I hope you and yours have a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving.
Michelle

As to the Hilltop Nursing Home there in Kerrville, I checked up on them wit the Medicare website. Medicare now "evaluates" nursing homes with a 1-5 star system (kinda like hotels) on there. The ratings are based on sanitation reports, fire inspection reports, # of paitent complaints, etc. I was very pleased to see that Hilltop had a full 5 stars on some things, with a total overal "score" of 4 stars. It sounds like she's in a dang good place!
