GALLBLADDER IS GOING BYE BYE !!!

Well....I went to Dr. Kim this morning and my gall bladder has to go bye bye.   I was going to wait till after Dec. 10th which is Dr. Kim's Christmas Party for his patients but the way I am feeling right now....I may not be able to wait that long.   The thing is....it is hurting down low....not up when my gallbladder is.    I am wondering if this pain is normal and goes along with it.    Seems it is probaly ( my guessing ) gas trapped in my lower intestines.    It is so intense I have to curl up in a fetal position.  If you have had your gallbladder removed and had pains like this please let me know.   Everyone looks at me like I am crazy when I tell them where I hurt.    I am waiting for insurance person at Dr. Kim's to give me a surgery date.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Gallbladder pain is no fun and the best thing you can do for yourself is get the dang thing removed.  If you wait too long, it can become emergency surgery....I think it depends on where the stones (if there are stones) are as to where it hurts.  Mine was a tightening around to the middle of my back.  I tried to control it with diet for 5 years but when my husband was about to lose his insurance and I realized the symptoms are almost exactly like a heart attack, that baby had to go....It also helped that they had finally begun doing them lap.  I refused to do it when it was open surgery!

You will never miss it. :)

I guess I am lucky....no gallstones but I get such mega gas I guess it is due to the gallbladder not functioning.    I had gas so badly last night and was in such pain I had to go to bed.   UGH....I wanted to wait till after Dec. 10th but I may change my mind about this.   LOL    Just glad that I know what the pain is from.

I have a girlfriend who had hers removed and her pain was in her lower back, near her tailbone, and it circled around the front on her right side to her lower abdomen. She said at first she thought it was a kidney or bladder infection.  She is not a WLS patient and is in her 30s, in otherwise good health, so doctors thought it was something else completly for a couple of visits.  I know how uncomfortable she was, so I'm sorry you're going through this.  At least you've been diagnosed and there is an end in sight.   I hope your surgery goes well.

I weighed 313 pounds on December 1, 2008 the day of my RNY surgery and have lost 81%
of my excess body weight to-date.                                        Current as of November 1, 2009
OH Mini-Challenge Goal for New Year's Day is 170 pounds. 11 pounds to go!

Thanks Sara.....I am a real trooper.   I have very high pain tolerance and I know I will be much better when it is gone.

When I had my gallbladder attack I thought I was dying.  It was the most pain I have ever had in my life.  It was hard to lay, sit, stand anything.  I got the most relief curled up in a fetal position with the heating pad on my stomach or back.  I had to endure the pain for several weeks because the ER I went to decided to treat me for kidney stones instead of gallstones.  The sooner you can get it out the better.  BTW Dec 10th is a great day to party.   hehehehe

Yeah Robin.....I get relief by curling in a fetal position also.   LOL   Kidney stones really hurt.   I have passed a bunch of those already in fact I have one in my right kidney now that has been there for over 5  yrs.     Hope it stays put too.   LOL   I can't imagine the pain I would be in if I had gall stones.    Thank God that hasn't happened !!

I failed to mention when I had mine out, my oldest daughter was only 8 months old so that was no fun and mine was not removed LAP.  So I have the nice big scar and all.  Yea kidney stones are no fun, I have one that was giving me lots of pain for a while but settled down finally.

That's great news! I had mine out in the early 80's, emergency surgery and have a huge scar to show for it. I've never missed it! So glad they are finally taking care of it for you.

My prayers are for a swift schedule and smooth surgery!
