Bariatric Surgery Center of Dallas offers the following on their website:

BSC Dallas offers LAP-BAND® surgery at Forest Park Medical Center for $9,500. This price includes a hospital stay of one night after surgery, if medically needed. It also includes band adjustments for six months after surgery. This price is applicable for individuals who will be paying out-of-pocket and not filing insurance

Recently the financial means is available for me to pay cash for surgery as my insurance does not cover the lap band.

$9500 sounds almost too good to be true. Is there a catch I am missing? After 6 months are the fills like $1000 or something?

Anyone with experience paying out of pocket at BCS Dallas please reply back.

There is no catch.  It is cheaper because this is not a hospital.  It is a surgery center. I can tell you that they are a very good group of people.  The doctor is VERY strict.  Do not go to him unless you plan on doing as you should because he DOESN'T sugar coat things.  They have excelent follow-up care also.  I did not go through him, and had RYGB, but you could call their office to see how much their fills are.    I know that they are about the same price as any other doctor though.  They don't charge higher fees to get you for the initial cheap fee.

 That's one of the lowest prices I've seen for the band in the U.S.    I think there is a clinic in the San Antonio area that offers about the same deal .. 

  You might be able to shave a few dollars off that price by going to Mexico, but then you risk all those problems with follow-up, fills, etc. once back in the U.S.  

My husband had lapband in 2005.  Our cash pay price was $15,000 so $9,500 sounds excellent.  Cost of fills for us (his doc is in Houston) is $150 per fill.

Dr Davidson did my RNY and is a very good doctor.  He was rated one of the top DR's in Dallas and his staff is great.
