Hello everyone!  I need a little help, I'm fairly new to the Dallas area.

The clothes in my closet range from sizes 20-26. It's time for me to give away just about everything I have but would like to take some of my nicer things to a consignment store where I can hopefully sell enough to buy some thrift store clothes to get me through the inevitable size changes over the next year or so.

Can anyone recommend a consignment store that sells plus size clothing?  What are the best stocked thrift stores in the area?  My daughter and I went to Goodwill today and I did get a pair of slacks in a size 16 that fit well, but that's all I could find.  My daughter came with me and of course was able to find a great winter coat, a cardigan sweater and a  really cute vest....she wears a medium and had a much larger selection to choose from.

Thank you

My favorite thrift store is Texas Thrift at Miller road and Glenbrook in Garland.  The store is huge and has a try-on room which is a must in my opinion. Most Dallas area Goodwills are too expensive to me.   Sorry but I can't help you with consignment stores, I never had good enough clothes to consign, lol.

OK, I'm an idiot.  That's not the name BUT the one at that location is still my favorite.  I do go to your's but I like the other one better.  What is the name of mine?  I always call it Miller Road thrift but I know that's not the name.

I don't know the name, but now I'm going to have to check it out - and all this time I thought we were thrifting at the same place.  Geez!

To sell your plus size stuff, try Large Than Life over in Dallas/Richardson/Garland area.  It's right off 635.  They are super nice but only take appointments to bring in the clothes and the appointments were always months out during the week, so I just donated.  They have nice stuff though.   As for buying, Goodwill i**** or miss.  Sometimes I find something and sometimes nothing.  I usually find my jeans there but the time spent digging through the piles of clothes has driven me to buying new from WalMart for most everything else.

I weighed 313 pounds on December 1, 2008 the day of my RNY surgery and have lost 81%
of my excess body weight to-date.                                        Current as of November 1, 2009
OH Mini-Challenge Goal for New Year's Day is 170 pounds. 11 pounds to go!

There is a resale shop in the Mockingbird / Central Expwy area called Revente Upscale Resale.  They have REALLY nice clothes, shoes, purses & accessories.  Most of the stuff is "designer label" type stuff.    If you have "upscale" type clothing to sell, check them out.

They also are having a sale ... just mention "Summer in November" and get 20% off your purchase.

There is a resale shop @ Preston Rd. and 635 named Rethreads, I have consigned several times with them have not had any problems.  Give them a call of visit their website rethreads.com (or check yellowpages for their phone and website.)
Good Luck

Thanks for posting that, Debra ..  I couldn't think of the name of it ..  "Paul In Dallas" highly recommends them ..   Says sometimes you can actually get brand-new designer clothes there cheap (e.g. someone received as a gift but never wore or didn't want) ..

The place Jodie mentioned is just a few blocks from my office ..  I'll check it out next time I'm at Kroger's tomorrow and see what the name is for sure, as well as the one Stephanie mentioned on Miller Road and post back here ..
