Need cell phone recommendations

I'm really wanting a new phone cuz I NEED to be able to access the internet.  I'm not eligible for an upgarade until next October so I might just have to buy one out of pocket.  I'd love to have an Iphone but can't spring the $400-500 for one.  What phone do you have and do you like it for texting and the internet?  I'm looking at blackberry curves on ebay.  Anyone have one of those?  Thanks for your help.

I'd call your provider and see what discounts you can get for being with them for "x" amount of time, plus the fact that you work at a hospital(?), you may get a discount for working for that particular hospital. 

I am with Sprint and I have a few perks.  I have a Palm Centro and have thought about getting a Palm Pixie... but I'd have to change my whole plan and since I am unemployed at the moment, I really don't want to hang myself. 

Sometimes a good ol' " I'm gonna change providers for better rates than what you have" works wonders.

I spoke with them yesterday.  I do have a good discount plan but still the one I want costs way too much unless I wait until upgrade time.  Since we're under contract for 1.5 more years, I can't threaten to change at this time.

Being with them for a good while usually has some pull.  What company are you with if you don't mind me asking.  I personally wouldn't follow through with my threat of finding another provider... though I've been thinking about checking into AT&T since David is with them.  I have mulitple lines on my plan and so far, I've not found another provider to give me the same deal for a bit less.  I think too if you look at overstock.com you might be able to find something.  Even on http://www.kijiji.com/

I'm with AT&T and have been for years.  I'm just really looking for phone recommendations as I don't want to have to change cariers.

steph, I added internet to our (horrible) phones with AT&T and they are the same as yours.  We pay like $10 a month for each phone to have unlimited internet.

I"d bargain with them... that's what I did with t-mobile.  And they gave me the phone I wanted at the new costumer price. 

love my black berry - just got the teen one off ebay for $130 or so - works fine - just make sure you put a GOOD case on it - b/c if you drip them too many times the stupid track ball falls out and that sucks -have to pay for a new one then - but they only chareged me $100 with out insurance but that is the insureance deductable so who knows - all i know is my refurbished one from sprint was $30 less than the teens from ebay

Thanks Danni.  I just bought one off ebay 2 minutes ago for $131 and it comes with everything.  Glad to hear you like yours.  I bought a Curve 8310.  Is it easy to text with?  The keys look really close together.  How is it for posting on FB? 

didn't see the fb part - fb is easy as long as fb is behaving - posting pics there is 3 clicks easy easy - OH is a pian b/c of all the graphics but I get the top part of the posts via yahoo email so Iknow what is said at least a little
