Too Much Protein?
I'm wondering if I have to worry about too much protein in a day? I know just having protein can cause gout but how does that work post RNY. I'm thinking fish with the cucumber sauce dollop on top, maybe some cauiflower with Fage and later if hungry protein icecream? My friend told me if my protein intake is low my hair will get thin so I want to stay feeling good.How much should I be having on the mushie stage? I'm having no problems. I've kept laughing cow cheese or mozzerella stick with me and was out today and got a griiledchicken snackwrap with honeymustard at McDonalds . I took out the meat and wiped off most of the sauce. The chicken was a small egg size so ate tiny bites over 20 min. and it went fine.Tonite I just finished refried nofat beans with a little guacamole and cheese lofat and Fage greek yogurt . My version of 5 layer dip. Ate1/2 c. and feel pleasingly satisfied on 15grm protein 7grm fat and 10 carbs and 150cals, I can definitely take this to work and have it down in 20. min since I'm a nurse and lunch is short sometimes.
my experance has been that as long as I keep my water intake higher than my protien I don't have issues - now when I eat really "good" (lots of protien) and skimp on water - not only do I get kidney pain but I get gout in my handss - NOT plesant -
so my rule of thumb is one oz of water per gram of protien plus a glass. for example today I had127 grams of protien and 5 litter of water and am working on my 6th-so close to 200 oz of water by bedtime
edited to add - you might aim for 150 oz of water with 127 grams of protien - I'm working really hard right now to get my eating back on track and have been drinking extra - like everytime I think hmm I want a bite of something and it is not time to eat
now bear in mind I am almost 4 yrs out and working hard on breaking a 2 year maintance streak LOL - I have never had a problem getting water in as long as I payed attention - I carry water EVERYWHERE with me - to walmart, movies, sams club, toys r us, going for a drive, the 20 mins walk to take the kid to school - I mean litterally everywhere I go I have water in my hand - now that we are in Ga and I don't drink the tap water I have been known to take my camel back water bottle in to resturants with me - I used to just order water to drink
just a thought - be careful to order sandwiches and wraps with no sauce - not only do some of them have an insane amount of calories - I have dumped on many sauces, marinades and even some spice/rubs
sounds like you are doing good - enjoy your honeymoon, it gets harder but never impossible - just keep chugging along - water, vits, protien and movement - thats what will get you healthy and keep you that way
