OT- Hopefully No TMBers Donated To This Lady's "Cancer"
Karla,
I am not one to stir up the board but your post sets me off espically this comment.
If very active messageboarders kindly ask you to remove a message because it's hurtful you should take their hint.
You make it sound as if the only active messageboarders are able to post things on the board. So I want to know how many posts a person has to post to be able to become and active messageboarder?
Back to Paul's posting. He was posting this to alert people of this happening and so close to home. I would be angry if I gave money to a women and found out later that she is scamming against us.

I sure hope no one from the TMB offered money to this person either. What a perfectly executed scam to play on the kindness of others for financial gain. What this article proves to me though, is not the obvious mental illness of the scam artist, but the outpouring of love (and unfortunately) resources from people who loved and wanted to help her. It proves kindness still exists today, but not always without a cost. Shame on anyone who thinks that illness is a right to entitlement.
As to my brief experience with a recent cancer diagnoses, if there is anything I can say to help ease the minds of anyone wanting to help someone with cancer, don't - unless it benefits YOU somehow (and I'm not talking warm fuzzies). Going into Parkland uninsured (and being so for 4 or 5 days) was eye opening. Doctors take an oath to help you no matter what. They won't let you go without treatment, prescriptions, or anything else that will get you back to where you need to be. Are there hurdles if you have a lack of funding? Yes. Are there hurdles if you DO have funding? Absolutely. It's a disease that requires hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of treatment that has a lot of loop holes. But the ONLY time someone with cancer would need help, it would be with utilities and rent - and there are PLENTY of community resources available for people to research and apply for help. And medical bills down the road can have payment plans arranged that work with the cancer patient. So if anyone says they need large amounts of funds to help them out, and you really want to help, offer to pay a bill in their name, and make the check out to the utility company along with the account number. Anyone who is truly hurting will appreciate that offer MORE than a check in their name. Trust me.

Alot of people are open to giving during the holiday season.....Thanks for the heads up on this kinda thing...
its just a shame their are dishonest people that do this and ruin it for all the honest people in need.....
I mostly give to the red cross or a personal friend, you never know how you can truly impact a persons life, with the tithes you woulda given to a organization...i used to do that when i worked at the hospital....
i gave to individuals the tithes i woulda given to my church that turned its back on me for divorcing an abusive husband of 20 years.....its all God's money anyway....
Again thank you!!!!
