Thanks Paul....they put down termination reason as breach of company policies.    They said that he had scheduling problems.   He said that in Ca. they schedules the employees hours differently than here in Texas.     UGH   Not a valid enough reason IMHO to let someone go.     I think that the employees made such a stink about him that rather than deal with them they chose to get rid of him.   I told him he should contact his old district manager from Ca. who now is a regional manager here in Dallas area and see if there is anything she can do to help him out.     As far as him driving that far it is way too far !!!  Mckinney that is.     He is going to check into filing for unemployment in Ca.    UGH just not fair at all to me what they did to him.   Guess Texas Starbucks Sucks as far as how they value their employees!!!!

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Sounds like they still didn't have truly valid grounds for cause for a "termination", VP ..  It looks really bad for SB that your son was with them 6 years (and presumably had no disciplines against him) and then suddenly, just a month after a voluntary transfer, they terminate him for something like that and w/o any prior warnings ..

The "boss' boss" might be the route to go, but it seems usually the case that they will just say they stand by their subordinate's decision, which is a way of passing the buck and not stepping on anybody's toes in the organization.        Even if the regional manager is able to pull strings to get your son's job back, then there's the question does he really want to go back to the same store and/or district, working with the same people?   He's likely to face resentment from them over the cir****tances.   Even if SB put him in another district (if not too far away) he would likely have to deal with the stigma of being deemed a "troublemaker" in the co. by higher-ups

I'd say again just go for the unemployment and move on with an employer that will more greatly value him .

Speaking of which, I was reading last night how Ruby Tuesday's has just spent $100 MILLION on a complete revamp of their restaurants and menu.   They're going with a more upscale look and menu (e.g. bison burgers, lobster, etc.) ..   I bet a local one there might just love to have a former SB manager with 6 years of experience!

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

HW/461 LW/251 GW/189 CW/274 (yep, a DS semi-failure - it happens :-( )

Paul....I really don't think that he wants to work for a company that will treat their long term employees like that.   He said that he doubts that the regional manager can do anything for him.   Although she does know what type of a persone he is and all about his work ethics.    UGH

Texas is an employ at will state.  You can leave without notice, you can be terminated without notice.  If I'm not mistaken most Starbucks, if not all, are operated individually - franchised so to speak.

It's time to start the unemployment benefits process and move on.  The world isn't going to end over Jonathan losing this job that he transferred from CA to TX to take.

There are a LOT of us in the same situation (jobless), some have been that way longer than others.  It's not that anyone is not sympathic, but enough is enough.

There, I said it.  Move on Vivian, there's nothing we (nor you) can do to change this situation.

Blessings to you and for you.
