You are SO precious to me too. You are right. I can't get all stressed out over all this. He can draw unemployment although he has not worked long enough in Texas to draw it here. He will have to file ( or try to anyway ) and draw it from Ca. Gee....I really didn't need this at all. On a positive note my middle son may have a job in the next couple of days. Viv, I know for a fact Bank of America Mortgage (we have a Plano, Richardson, Addison, and Ft Worth location) is and has been hiring, especially for management. I don't know how much the pay range is, but I know that the benefits are extremely good as well.
There is a manager at my location who was hired solely on his managerial experience and he was former Air Force. He had no mortgage experience. My personal manager worked at T-mobile before BOA. No finanace or mortgage experience whatsoever. So tell him to please look into it!

If I were your son, I would not hesitate to go ahead and file for unemployment while looking for other work. Since he worked for SB for so long in CA before only recently coming here, it should go through the CA system, which hopefully is a little more "forgiving" than Texas as far as paying benefits to terminated employees (vs. ecnoomic layoffs) . In any event, SBs has to give a valid reason for his termination to disqualify him (and present witnesses to same, if appealed) ... Our standard in Texas is "work-related misconduct" .. It doesn't sound like, from what you've said so far, the did anything that would rise to that level, as far as failing to follow company policiies, insubordination, missing work w/o leave, etc. As Georgie and I have opined, it just sounds like some young kid subordinates didn't like him making them work! I think a job referee would rule in his favor ..
Do you know if SB has offered him any kind of severance package, btw? I bet not .. That wouldn't surprise me with them ..
btw, I have a good friend in McKinney who, along with some of the Dallas Desperados (arena football team) have started up a sort of a lower cost version of Starbucks, called "Coffee Haus", or some such. Their first shop has opened right off the square in McKinney earlier this year. I could talk to my friend to see if they would have a position for him with their co. Just let me know.
