Yes, Vivian, with his extensive managerial background and being a former member of the Navy, he should have no problem finding a job.  He should really check into consulting for the Washington Federal Bureau (or firms that provide consultants to the WFB), they are hot for people to fill jobs that need clearance and love candidates that have armed forces background.

Whenever one door closes, another one opens.  This Starbucks just opened the door for someone else to move up in their career or someone who has been unemployed for months, possibly years, to find a job.

Vivian,

Washington Federal Bureau may not be the exact name.  Most of the Big Four consulting firms have consultants that work for the federal government in projects in DC.  They can range from general office work to project management and systems (technical) work.  They also use a lot of armed forces folks to work for the Department of Defense both here and overseas and then there's also the Center of Disease Control (I believe it's in Atlanta, maybe?).

If he isn't married and if he doesn't have any real ties and is open to travel, consulting would be the way to go.  Having just lost my job on Friday, I'm really going to miss all the travel involved.

Have him check PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, IBM and Ernst & Young websites for job opportunities if he's interested in traveling (although some positions require re-location).

Sorry to hear this Vivian.  He'll find something else that is as good or better.  I know your family has had a heavy load to bear lately.  The difference in management techniques in a southern state and up north or east/west coast could have something to do with southern etiquette...sometimes what is considered just and fair in other places may not cut it with southern gentility...we're used to kindness and yes ma'am and yes sir...

I know I've run across people from other areas that come to TX and get used to store personnel greeting them in a friendly way, using good southern charm and manners and go back to their native area and accuse store clerks of being rude...then realize they were just curt with them, not really rude.  That may have been the case between your son and his employees.

I hope he finds a new great job for him.

Karla....that is not it.   Being ex Navy he yes mam and no mam everyone.    It is I believe the fact that the employees had been managerless for at least 6 weeks before he entered the picture.    He is from here....but went into the Navy 10yrs ago after graduating high school.    He has impectable manners.    I taught my son's to respect others when they were growing up,    He came across too hard on them at first and that I think made them get it in for him.    The store was FILTHY dirty when he came in and he cleaned everything up and was pretty strict on the employees.    We are at a loss with all that has gone on in our lives over the past months.    Jonathan would never be rude to anyone that I am aware of.    I think a lot of it is they do things different in Ca than here in Tx. but still I think they should have given him a warning instead of letting him go !!!

Vivian, I am SO sorry to hear this news!  I'm in agreement with everyone else here...he will find another job!!!  I know that this is a test of strength right now for you, but you are strong.  Hang in there and please stop fretting.  Your good health is so important.  Your tummy problems could be coming from the added stress that you're going through with your boys.  Give those problems to God.  He can handle them so much better than you can.  I know that it's hard to be a mom and watch your child go through "life's situations", but it's teaching them as well.

I'm here for you and you know that!  You have my prayers and I'm sending up extra ones for you!  I know that you will be sending me good news very soon!  :)

I love you dearly.  You and your family are very precious to my heart!

Always,
Rose
