Good afternoon everyone.  Real good.  I just woke up 30 minutes ago.  A good strong 7 hours of sleep.  Unheard of in my world.

We have Bible study tonight, so I got to sleep in.  Then it is work as usual.

Mary was busy while I slept.  Made my lunches and suppers for the next 3 or 4 days.  I think I will keep her around for a while.

So, what's up with you?  Got any prayer requests?

Just so you know, you need to TAKE YOUR VITAMINS  SUPPLEMENTS and make sure you get your daily allotment of PROTEIN.

If you are new to the board, this link explains what the NIGHT WATCHMAN is (if you are interested).  Otherwise, just read on, you will probably figure it out anyway.

So...if you just got up, is it "good mornin'" ?

Had to go drop off something for Heather as she was told she had to play a challenge match...again.  The same girl she is supposed to play with didn't show, AGAIN!  I told her to just tell the coach, "hey, look, this is the third time, if not the fourth, that you have told me to make sure I'm here for a challenge match against her - I get here and she's a no show....that means a forfeit if you ask me"!!!  Coach was a bit irked at V and a couple others but she has a right to argue her point...he told the kids to "go run for 10 minutes" around the track.  V is not a strong long-distance runner and after the third lap started running out of gas.  She did three laps in ten minutes.  When he called them in to do crunches, he hollered at her saying she didn't get a mile in (4 laps).  She was like, "you didn't say do a mile, you said go run for TEN MINUTES".  Now, if he wanted a mile, then he should have stated specifically how many laps he expected them to do, and, then don't call them all over when he was ready to do crunches if they were not done!  Sheeesh!!!  I told her she can definitely defend herself but just not be rude to the coach.  I plan on emailing him about it too.   Sometimes when mom just steps in to smooth things over, it doesn't come across as the kid being disrespectful.  She definitely wasn't the only one who didn't run a mile either so it sounds like he just wasn't clear.

Ok, I'd better scoot.  Sarah will be off the bus in about 20 min.  Then Heather has to be picked up at 4:30, then Sarah to tennis at 5:30, picked back up at 7:00, then I have to take Schnitzel, V and myself to Petsmart for Schnitzel's next obedience class tonight at 7:30.  Mondays and Wednesday are NUTS!

Hope V and Heather get everything straightened out.  I would hate to see either/both of them decide it is not worth doing tennis with a coach like that.  Heather needs him to step up and make a decision.  V needs him to understand that she did what she was told.

I emailed the guy after we got home and explained the situation with the whole running thing.  V was definitely uptight at the fact he was upset.  She reallllly doesn't like to upset people, especially teachers - that's just not her thing.  I wanted him to understand the point and did say in HIS defense that I am 100% aware that kids will try to get out of doing the running/conditioning stuff and my girls are no exception - they hate it too but they DO do what they are told to do.  When I picked up Heather, she said there were at least 10 kids' names on the list who didn't run.  When I emailed the coach, I told him right up that V does NOT run fast for long distances and a lot of that has to do with her weight...which we are working on.  I told him the doc recently just put her on Metformin to see if that might help.  I just wanted him to know she isn't lazy, she just isn't a long distance runner in a quick amount of time!  He eventually sent me a note back thanking me for the explanation and said, "no worries, she is not in trouble"!  Maybe he realized that he wasn't clear on his explanation of what he wanted..."10 min. of running versus 4 laps/one mile".  Granted, a lot of the guys were able to do that as well as a few girls, but heck, some of the girls who are a heck of a lot smaller than both my girls were like, "sorry, I can't run, my knees are hurting"...yet they were able to do tennis drills shortly afterwards....hmmm, now THAT sounds like a cop-out way of not having to run to me moreso than V's excuse.  Oh well...today is a new day.  OH...and Heather did talk to him about the other girl never showing.  She told him, "uhm, wouldn't that be a forfeit if she isn't showing"?  She said it in front of a few other girls who all stood there waiting for him to answer.  He said, "you know what Heather, you would be correct, if she doesn't show again tomorrow, then we'll consider the match a forfeit."  It's pretty much a wash even if Heather lost to her as Heather is slot 7 and the other girl is slot 8, buuut, if Heather drops to 8 and then the top JV girl challenges her, she could slip down to JV instead.  The whole thing is crazy.  Personally, I think wherever the kids were slotted at the beginning of the school year is where they should be for the entire school year, period.  By making them constantly challenge EACH OTHER, instead of having a nice, cohesive team, it makes them against each other!!!  I will NEVER understand that!!!

Hi George;

Sorry I haven't made it by sooner. The move was exhausting and then getting back into the work zone is tough after over 6 months off. I've got a couple spare minutes before my next meeting, so I thought I'd give a quick update.

The house is coming together slowly. Michael is flying to SAT tomorrow morning to finish packing and bringing everything up. I'm hoping he'll have it all here on Thursday afternoon and we'll be settled in by the weekend.

My job is everything I hoped it would. I love it! I'm so excited that it all came together. I've got a lot on my plate and can't wait to start getting some results from the stuff I've already started working on.

Life is wonderful and I'm very blessed. Prayers for all who need them.
Blessings, Jennifer
