Need some reassurance!
1st - I received the letter from BC-BS stating that the surgery is covered.
2nd - I called the Dr office to inform them of my letter.... I was told that the pre-cert would be done the next day and I should receive a call from the scheduler.
MY ???? - How long does it normally take to hear back from the Dr office and what is the normal waiting period before the surgery date can be scheduled?
I read post about a very long (8 hr) pre-op appointment ---- Is this normal??
I'm just really excited to see the ball rolling.... I think that I wouldn't feel so apprehensive if I had a surgery date.
Thanks,

My doctor's office can be bad about returning calls, too. Call them again.
My pre-op lasted around 4 hours, I think? It included an appointment with my surgeon, an EKG, bloodwork, a question and answer session with admitting, and a few other things I can't remember.

call them back - as for how long the pre op apt takes it varyes with docs and hosp - my last one - 3 days before was a couple of hours but part of that was waiting to talk to differnt peeps and waiting at the lab
I did have a slew of other apts before surgery - EKG, phyc eval, bone density, all kinds of things - those varied by how organized and on time the office was at each place

As Kathy stated, I got approved by my insurance on Oct 7th and had surgery 22 days later (Oct 29th), but was originally told that I could have surger on Oct 15th. I told them I needed to give my job a 2week notice.
I have everything done prior to my pre-op visit; all we had to do afterwards was just wait for surgery day to arrive.
Hope everything gets settled for you..!

HI Miss Jean..!
I'm 4 days out and doing good. The staff at UGH was wonderful since the moment I walked in was treated very well and the nurses in the preparation area were great at making me feel comfortable.
I do still have some soreness (pain) on my left side but I'm sure that is very normal; besides I had more than gastric bypass done to me. Gall bladder was removed and Dr Marvin removed some skin off a bump he noticed on my stomach and sent it to pathologist. I've been one of the lucky ones not to be hungry these past couple of days, THANKFULLY!! I do have Gas X strips with me and have only taken maybe around 10 since I left the hospital.
Everything will be great. I'm happy for you and cant wait for you to join us on our new journey. Feel free to send me a private message if you need anything..!

Thanks Adabel, Do they have recliners in the room? Should I take my favorite tea? anything you would have brought to make it easier? How long were you in the hospital? Yes preop nurses were Great! I was wondering about GasX. I might have a little more pain too getting my lapband and port removed never worked for me over 20 mo.s even though I was mostly good was diagnoised with lymphedema which retains fluid. I'm anxious to see how much I will lose the first month with the fluid release as the fat is burned. Hopefully will feel well enough to attend support group on Mon. in Pasadena . My daughter will drive me. Otherwise will be there next Sat. at Baybrook Mall. Hope to meet you soon.
