I am 8 days post op, and am only eating pured foods. It seams like as soon as I take my first bite of food, I feel something right below my left rib. It is not a pain really but more like a full feeling, or like an upset stomach. Sometimes I get the same feeling with water. I know this is not where my pounch is so I go ahead and finish eating what I have premeasured out. Anyone know what this feeling is?

David....I am not totally 100% sure where the pouch is located but it is located in the upper abs area.     I was told this by my surgeon's bariatric coordinator.   So it very well could be that you are feeling that "full or satisfied feeling" in that area that IS where your pouch is.   I know right after surgery sometimes I couldn't eat more than a teaspoon of full without feeling stuffed.     Good luck with your eating and enjoy the honeymoon stage and make the best of it.

My money is on some trapped gas.  Gas tries to move up which is why your shoulders may have discomfort after surgery.  When you eat it may put pressure on the area and become painful.

If it does not pass or move by Monday CALL YOUR SURGEON.

I'm with Que. I bet it is air. Are you sipping? I can tell when I take in more than a sip. I get a feeling similar to what u r talking about. I am only one week out myself and still have air in there. Still getting it in my shoulder some. Walking seems to help more than anything. You might try gas-x too. See if that helps.

Good luck to you!
