Lab Work & 1st year Checkup...
Okay wise ones, please give me your guidance and thoughts here.
I went in to see my doctor yesterday for my 1 year checkup (it is a few days early). The positive of this is that according to his scale now I have lost 100 lbs. He still wants me to loose another 25-30 lbs but I am having trouble loosing any at this point.
According to him my lab work looks awesome and nothing needs to be changed. He says they DO NOT check Vitamin D on the lab work that they order here for their bariatric patient, and he sees no need to because I don't have a deficiency. I asked him to order the Vitamin D test but he refused and said there was absolutely no reason for that.
I told him about the muscle and bone aches that have continued to progress and he says I need to get back on the Gabapentin (sp?) for the fibromyalgia like I was taking before my surgery. He says that is the only thing he can think of as to why that is occurring.
As for the blurred vision, light headedness, and foggy thinking I get he still has absolutely NO ideas as to what that is coming from. I told him it has been getting real bad when I exercise. I had it yesterday almost all day off and on. He is at a loss about that! He has suggested that I make sure to take in some good carbs every afternoon before I go exercise...any suggestions from you guys on what to eat would be great.
The Lab work is so greek to me, so I am writing it on here as the Lab paper states, so maybe you can help me out with what is what and whether its good or not.

Thank you all for your continued help and support!

That's strange that your doctor would not order a vitamin d check. Vitamin d is so important and mine was low the first time they checked my labs.

I'm not going to be nice about your doctor, but he has no freaking idea what he is talking about. Your Vitamin D can be low and could very well be the culprit for the pain you are feeling.
Do you have the ranges for your test, that would help allot? I don't see ferritin either, another MUST test. Since you have osteopenia/osteoporosis issues you should also ask your PCP to run a PTH.
My suggestion is go to your PCP and request he run your Vitamin D 25 Hydroxy.......demand it, it is your body.
I HATE when doctors are so persistant they know everything about vitamins when they have very little training on nutrition.
Another suggestion, your B-12 is low for US. Hope much B-12 are you taking per day? You can't overdo the B-12 what your body doesn't need you'll pee out......most post-ops that are further out will tell you to get your B-12 to around 1000.
Good luck!

Hi Dana! I was hoping you would chime in for me. Seems like the dosage I get on the B12 is 1.5 but I'll check the bottle at home and let you know for sure. He said my B12 was great! I go to see my PCP on November 12 and I will request that she run a Vitamin D 25 Hydroxy and a PTH. He only runs the PTH on the 2nd year checkup. I already had one parathyroid removed before they found my thyroid cancer back in 2004.

Carrie, your numbers seem reasonable based on the ranges except IMO I'd like to see your B-12 up. And your TSH is LOW, I'm assuming you are on thyroid meds with your previous medical situation right? Did he do the T-3 and T-4 or are you seeing an endo for your thyroid? You might discuss the TSH level with whomever works with you on your thyroid.
