Phyllis,

Yes we will have a big ice chest and a little one.  I plan to take cheese and lunch meats with me cause I love those to snack on.  Also some crackers.  Thanks for the advice.

Lunchables! Get the ones with just the cheese, meat and crackers - they aren't the super best, but work really well.  And travel really well.  You can also find them at convienent stores *usually*.  They are a life saver for me on trips with other people.

Also can you do Atkins bars?  When I travel I grab a couple of them - there are only four I currently like.  But Wal-Mart has them in individuals so you can try a couple before you buy a box.  I really like the apple one - I just tried it this week.  I would only do it once a week but it gives me a great break from the same ol same ol.

Hi Michelle,

I am in the same boat as you - leaving tomorrow for a 10 1/2 hour drive with my husband and brother and they like to eat at McD's along the way.

I am taking some elk jerky I got at Woody's on my way to the OH conference a few weeks ago and some string cheese and my protein powder.  I can always throw some protein powder into some coffee if they have milk or real H&H to cool it down first.  We also have a bag of cashews to munch on also.

I almost forgot - taking some Kashi Roll ! protein bars along, too.  They are sweet and crunchy and chewy so they satisfy all those "texture" cravings LOL and they keep you from getting hungry for a long time.  They are the only protein bars I have found I like - 12 g protein and 6 g fiber.

Michelle....I am sure you will do fine.    Take carrot sticks, almonds, coolers with yogurt and cheese in it.    Soda crackers and peanut butter.   Anything else that you might like that you know you can get good protein from.    Take protein bars...pre made protein shakes....fresh fruit !!!   Those are just a few things off the top of my head.   You have been very successful in your journey.    Don't let the 3 lbs freak you out.    Just be very aware of what you put in your mouth.   The weight comes back on quickly but doesn't come off that way !!!   We love you and we know you will do fine.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

LF cheese sticks,  turkey jerky (if you can tolerate it), apples, pears, plums, celery sticks, strips of sweet peppers (yellow, orange, red), cucumber, dip made of cottage cheese, 5 LF laughing cow wedges (garlic & herb), garlic, salt, and pepper, and chives whizzed in a food processor until smooth (this is awesome to dip your fresh veggies into), nitrite/nitrate free deli meats, nuts, dried soy beans (made by Southpoint Farms I have found them at Kroger.  They have 14 gr protein for 1/4 of a cup: very filling)!  You can do this!  I lug this kind of stuff with me all the time.

I've become newly addicted to the KRoger CArbMaster Yogurt.  80 calories and 12 grams of protein (I think).  If you are taking a cooler, this is a very satisfying snack that you can make last for 10 minutes or more with long, slow bites.  I like adding a granola bar or nuts to the snack to make it a meal.  Have safe travels.

I weighed 313 pounds on December 1, 2008 the day of my RNY surgery and have lost 81%
of my excess body weight to-date.                                        Current as of November 1, 2009
