Just wanted to update everyone......things are slowing getting better.   I have "calmed" down some and so has my son and his GF.   I can't say that what all I have been through this week has been easy nor can I say it is over !!!!  In fact the truth is....it has just begun.   I dread all the financial responsibilities that we will have due to his drug addiction.    I know that God will see us through it though.   I am praying very very hard that he won't have to take the Seboxin very long....it is SO VERY EXPENSIVE....$6 to $8 per pill and he has to have 2 or more per day.   UGH.....it is going to cost us a fortune.   When he gets a job...I am going to make him pay for them or at least half.    Please pray that he will feel well enough to find a job soon.    Love you guys and wish I could have gone to Que's Halloween Party.

Vivian,
I know how expensive Suboxone can be, especially when one has no health insurance (i am assuming).
I found a bit of info for you regarding this:

Suboxone Assisted Treatment, a subsidiary of Medical Assisted Treatment of America caters mainly to the present and future medication—assisted treatment patients, family members, friends and other medical personnel that may need information and assistance. www.SuboxoneAssistedTreatment.org

if you haven't already, i urge you to utilize the resources on this website http://www.suboxone.com/

there are resources there about the drug, where you can get at a reduced cost , and just general info.  Many times the pharmaceutical companies that are manufacturing the higher drugs do have grants.etc for these types of situations whee you can purchase them directly the company at a much reduced price.  I'm sure you have all this info, just in case.
I'm quite sure you have all this info, but just thought i would throw it out there just in case.  My apologies for the rambling, its almost 3am and for once, I'm tired lol.
Keep us posted, and keep in mind that getting off this drug is considered to be the same as coming off Heroin.

Liz....to be perfectly honest....my son got NO information on any medications that they were giving him in Detox.   I have a pamphet that was given to me by his doc. when I paid $100 for like 13 pils of Suboxone.    I about flipped when I found out it only bought 13.  I wish we could find someplace to just give them to him....since he has no job or apartment.   We already had a pretty full plate with one son in college.   Now to have the added burden of $360 + a month for his Suboxone.   UGH !!!   And that is for only 2 a day.    He has no insurance at all and the cost falls on us till he gets a job.    then there is the added cost of $75 for the doctor to write the perscription.    That makes me mad too !!!  Oh well...nothing that we can do about it although it isn't fair since we do have insurance.

Hey Viv,

I am so glad to see your post.  You and your family have been on my mind all week.  I am sorry you are having to go through all of this and I know how much it sucks.  Just wondering...does Texas not have a state insurance for people that cant afford it?  I know MA has one called MassHealth and without it I know Dan would still be using.  He is doing Methadone but it is a daily thing where he has to go to a clinic and get it everyday, but when he comes off of it (a year or so) he will be doing the seboxin.  Have the doctors said how long your son would be taking it?  If at all possiable stay in close contact with the doctors that are prescribing it.  Did you guys decide against long term rehab?  Please keep us posted.  I worry about you, and your famil a lot.  You are in my prayers always.  Hugs.  Michelle

Thanks Michelle for the prayers.   I have had the week from "hell" !!!   Hopefully it will get better soon although his GF is trying to boss me....it is NOT going to happen.   This is MY home NOT hers !!!!    I was told that he will be on Suboxone 3 to 6 months.     It is VERY Expensive !!!!   The burden of the cost is falling on us !!!  Not fair at all IMHO...after all....I didn't tell him to take the Oxy.   I knew from my Mom being on it how potent it is.    Really makes me angry and my oldest son is really angry about it too.    Oh well....what can you do.   Methadone is addictive !!!  They were told about that program too but chose the Suboxone instead.    I just want him to get off the drugs and never do anything like that again.   Although I don't know if it will ever happen.   The other day he wanted me to find his biological mom so he could meet her.   he said he wanted to ask her WHY she did drugs and did this to him.   I told him that he made the choice to do drugs...not her.    It was his decision not hers and I am sure she would tell him the same.   She gave him up for adoption to give him a better life....he made bad choices that is not her fault but his own.

 Thanks Phyllis,

I am getting away for a little while about every other day.   Maybe for a hour or so.   I am doing OK I guess.     I have had lots of "meltdowns" since this happened.   But I am sure it will get better.   Sure can't get much worse.

Vivian,
I hadn't seen you on FB, so I had come over here to see if anyone had heard from you...you and your family have been weighing heavily on my mind this week. I'm glad that you are starting to feel a little "better" about all that is going on. I've been thinking about you guys and keeping you in my prayers!

Hugs, Mari
