Day One Post -op

I found the computer Teena.  I am in quite a bit of pain.  As long as I don't move around too much, and use  the pain pump, it is managable.  It is about a 6 level.   I just got my first lunch plate.  I had a couple sips of the broth and drank the tea.  I have been dying of thirst since I arrived at the hospital, but he would only allow me 1\2 tsp of ice per hour.  It hurt to drink, but I am sure that is because of gas from the surgry.    I am not for sure when I will be going home, but I think it will be Monday.  I need at least one more day in here.  I still have my pains that wake me up and are about a 9.

Anyways, thank you everyone for your encouragement.  I will get back on here the next time I feel up to a walk.

Kim, what did Dr. P say.  Was your surgery messed up?  You did end up with a reversal right?

Dr Provost said that everything went well.  He didn't say that he saw anything abnormal when he went in.  Some people, just don't take well to it.  My body was one of them.  I did have the reversal.

It is hard for me to get on here, but I HAVE to push myself or I won't get better.  I have to do some walking.  He left my feeding tube in, but it will be temporary.  Other than being in pain, I am doing very well.  Right now, I am having a hard time keeping my breath, but this is because I used my abdominal muscles.

YOU stay in there as long as you can get away with - I know that you hate it as with anyone in the hospital - but it doesn't sound like you'll get a lot of help at home either.......

Thanks Phyllis.  I will stay here as long as I can.  Dr P is a good dr.  He won't send me home before I am ready for it.  You are right, I wasn't getting much help at home.  My mom is comming back into town late tonight or tomorrow, so if I have to go to her house, she will help me.  Well, back to bed.  I'm starting to hurt.

I am so proud of you for getting up and about the hospital as I know just how you felt the first trip out the bed.

I am happy that everything worked out the way you wanted it to.

Sorry I had to babysit my nephews today and did not get a chance to visit.

Looks like I will have them again tomorrow and will not be able to visit.

I am happy to hear that you are well enough to be walking around.

Thanks Teena.  I am kind of glad that you didn't get to make it up here because I have been asleep since I had the surgery.  I thought it was because of the pain meds, but I am not taking any of them now, so I don't know what the problem is.  I am just SOOO tired.  I am up because I have got to get my walking in.  It would have been nice to see you though.  My parents came up here, but they left after a few minutes.  They said I looked like so tired that I was making them want to go to sleep. 

They don't have me using my feeding tube at the moment.  Maybe that will change because I am not up to drinking much.  I think one of the problems is that I HATE chicken broth.  YUCK!!! When I get off of clear liquids and back on to full liquids, I will probably do better.

Thanks for thinking about me and the best wishes.  I am going to go back to my room now.

Nice to hear that you are getting in your rest, but be sure to walk too.

I am sure you are just tired due to the anesthesia that was just pumped into your body on Friday.

I had surgery two weeks ago and still get tired easily.

I am glad to hear you are off your pain meds, but if you need them be sure to take them and stay ahead of the pain.

I am glad to hear that your parents are back in town.

I am sorry that you do not like the chicken broth.

I am hoping that once you are on full liquids that you will be able to get in more foods.

Has he said when he will release you yet?

I will be calling you later on today.
