Drive-by update - that's good right?! You bet it is!
DRUM ROLL PLEASE.......................................
Eric has insurance. WHAT? Thaaaaaaaaat's right. We applied for a policy through www.insurancemakesmesick.com on October 6th and got it in the mail sometime last week with an effective date of October 15th. It's not that we forgot about it but when he got sick we just figured it didn't matter anymore and we took matter into our own hands and went to county. It was a lost cause anyway because if it were sitting in underwriting waiting for blood work, etc that return of the word cancer would make him not get it anyway.
Not so much.
They did no physical or bloodwork and approved based on age, weight, and risk factors apparently. We didn't lie on the application or anything - it asks if you've been seen by a doctor, etc and Eric hadn't been to one in 8+ years (as of right now, I don't recommend that approach *cough*). I'll admit I'm paranoid they're going to fight based on how quickly he got sick. But I'd much rather fight the insurance company who approved him without doing THEIR homework instead of a system who would fight me because I have no funding. Hell - I'll do both. Bring it on. I used to not be able to call and order pizza because I'd be embarrassed if I tripped over my tongue and spoke wrong. Now I'm ready to do a televised Miss America speech in front of millions if I have to. Eric is totally worth the effort, whatever it ends up being.
As for everything else, 2nd round of chemo was good. He was pooped yesterday afternoon and just looked sick when I came in to check on him after chemo started. Sleeping very heavily. It was heartbreaking. I know how he sleeps because I've watched him in fascination for almost 8 years. He wasn't even there. His body was taken over by bone tired fatigue and it was a little hard to stomach so I went and walked. It took him a while to get back with it after he woke up but by 8ish he was cracking jokes again while I was falling asleep in the chair from my own bone tired fatigue. LOL.
So - have I mentioned how AWESOME you all are? I hate not being able to thank everyone individually but I will get to the point where I can eventually. The phone numbers and copious amounts of support have been overwhelming. I'm embarrassed to admit I can't figure out my sisters blackberry (we don't have a cell phone yet but will soon - thank you again Danni!). I can get online, etc on it but can't figure out texting. What the hell? Doesn't seem too complicated to me. It's probably because my brain is broken. It'll fix eventually but it won't matter anyway since they're leaving tomorrow. Sigh. I'm going to miss them.
So thank you again. And thanks for letting me use the medium of the TMB to just talk. It feels good. Mostly because I like the sound of my own voice.
All my love,
Jenny (a.k.a Superwoman!)
Prayers for you and your family.
