Veterans of the 5-day pouch test: Help!

I need advice from those of you with personal experience with the 5-day pouch test.

For the past week I've I felt like the carb monster was starting to get the best of me.  I had an increasing obsession with food.  I was eating out of stress and nerves, eating way too much fruit, taking illicit nibbles of pastries in the kitchen at the office, etc.  I was on that slippery slope to nowhere good.  So I decided to do the 5-day pouch test to "get a grip" and try to reboot my pouch as well as my more disciplined post-op self.

I am on Day 3 and it is KILLING me.  Day 3's menu is gross, nothing but eggs and canned/soft fish.  It is making me downright nostalgic for the all-liquid regime of Days 1 and 2.  I am hoping some of y'all can either tell me from personal experience that 5DPT either (a) did you a lot of good, so I should stay the course, or (b) did you no good at all, so I should bag it.  Honestly, I am open to either one.  I trust you guys for this sort of advice and know you won't steer me wrong!

Thanks,
Cynthia

I did it twice and both times it helped me.  I didn't really lose weight but I did feel more restriction and control over carbs when I was finished.  Day 3 is definately the hardest.  Honestly ANY pure protein will do.  The whole point is to de-carb.  I think I ate shrimp on Day 3.  Plus I had my protein drinks which always seem to help.  Days 4 and 5 are a breeze.  Stick with it.

Stick with it cynthia.  You can do chicken salad today if you want and Kaye says that cottage cheese etc are ok if you don't overeat because it's a slider.

I had good look losing the carb monster with the 5DPT......I really need to decarb again and should probably do this.....I'm going to prepare foods this weekend and hope next week is better mentally for me.

Hang in there! Day 3 is the hardest, I think. Remember, the 5dpt is NOT "intended" for wt. loss, though often that is a nice "bonus", but it IS a great "brain re-setter" and way to "de-carb" your brain and body-I speak from EXPERIENCE-the best of teachers, IMHO

Thank you so much, ladies ... you've inspired me to soldier on.  I needed to know this will be worth it.  Now I'm confident that it will be.  I appreciate your taking the time to share your experiences.
