What the hell? *Update*
Anyway, sorry Dr. Alexander.
So, nothing new to report really. I'm getting angry because they're not starting chemo today so every single day he dies a little bit more and the cancer spreads a little bit further. So I'll give them today to get allllllllll their little duckies in a row and then it's Hurricane Jenny time. I already have plans to ask to talk to the chemo doctors today because a) I need info and b) they need to know I'm a force to be reckoned with and it's better to be proactive with me before they have to involve the swat team that I'm sure can be mobilized within minutes at Parkland. Goooo Parkland! Woot! (Actually Parkland is awesome. We've had only good experience so far. Even the flanked inmates look happy to be there so there you go.)
Good news is I talked to his manager at work and they're willing to work with him. Several times they said he's "highly regarded" (well no **** - you don't know HOW good you have it having him there) but this is important because he's only a contractor, working on a contract. They technically don't have to work with him. But they're willing to, willing to offer whatever hours that work best for him, and advised we had enough on our plate to not have to worry about that. Amen. Eric is smart and he needs to use his brain. Working though this will offer a distraction from the day to day crap that you go through when dealing with cancer (look at me - talking like I know what I'm talking about. I'm such a good fake it til you make it sorta girl!)
So thanks everyone. I started a caringbridge page for him but it's been way too crazy to post anything. I won't bog down the board with updates everyday. Until the CB journal is up I'll jump on the train to update from here on out. I just wanted to update with what I knew so far, and of course laugh at the expense of Dr. Alexander.
Much love,
Jenny
You're right...he should have at least combed his hair neatly and someone should have advised him he looks goofy. Maybe he's single and needs one of our single gals to keep him in line!

glad you are having a postive experance with the hospital - sucks to spend so much time at one but it's better when you have a decent working relationship with them at least
hugs girlie
and yes he does look kinda drunk in this pic LOL
I know what I need to do - I have to choose to take care of me or I choose to fail
First off hats to you for keeping your head held high. Hugs and many prayers are being sent up for yall all. Keep us posted. You are not bogging down the board with updates on your husbands treatment status. We are your OH family. That is what we are here for from the trivial to the life alterinig. Again hugs to you!!!!
Smile, it increases your face value.
Personally, I'm glad you're posting here. I really want to keep apprised of his progress and plan of care and coming here is "one stop shopping" for me. If others don't want to read it, they can skip it.
Keep bugging them about anything you need to know but having been a nurse for 32 years, I will tell you that you definately get more of what you want when you're nice to people. We avoid people like the plague that are confrontational but go out of our way for those that are nice. Another little trick-keep a jar of inexpensive candy at his bedside and invite the staff to have a piece whenever they are in the room. Trust me-he will get excellent care and have tons of people "checking on him".
Since I "birth babies" for a living, I know I'm not much help but if there is anything I can help you with, just ask.
As for the ad you posted...I swore it was Robin Williams doing a bad impersonation when I first saw it.

You are absolutely right. Being nice is so much more effective than curt. And we both believe there really isn't any excuse or situation that doesn't warrant a please and thank you. We've already been shown really good treatment and I know it's because we're respectful of the very hard work people are doing to get our life back to normal and as comfortable as possible. I have no problem asking the doctors the tough questions though. If you're going to deal with a hard ass like me, at least you'll end up with a thank you. LOL.
I love the candy idea - I'll make a run to the store soon! :o)
