FU to my mom! Some good news
Dr. Robert didn't say no! :) That is a HUGE plus. When she started going down the list of everything that she has done I was shocked. I knew of some of them, but not everything. WOW! He wrote everything down and we discussed all the risks. He said he needed the upper GI and some other test to look at her stomach (she would have a revision). Then we got to talk to T - AGHH the cost of a revision about scared me!
Sooooo my new prayers - that the upper GI and that other test come back with good news, that Dr. R can do the surgery. And that the cost would come down, significantly. We only got to look at the cost at one hospital.
Thanks everyone!

Hi Steph,
I just have to jump in here real quick. I would urge anyone who thinks of taking a loan against their 401(k) to talk to a tax or financial adviser first. The main drawback to taking a loan from your 401(k) is that you are paying tax on the money twice. And many companies will not let you take a loan unless you can prove financial hardship.
Sorry. I will butt out now.

Feel free to butt in cuz I know nothing about that sort of stuff. I guess dumb luck was with me cuz 2 weeks after I withdrew it, the market crashed and I lost 50K. I consider that free money cuz it would of been gone if I hadn't. OK, don't listen to me, listen to Michelle, lol.

I did the same thing Steph - took out a loan to drill a water well on my Arkansas property right before it crashed last year. My property IS my retirement so I had no problem using that money and paying myself back and like you - I consider myself fortunate since I essentially would have lost it anyway.
