Protein powder and hot drinks

I just have no luck with mixing my protein powder with my hot drinks.  I  mixed some in with my hot chocolate last night and it just clumped up.  How do you guys get your protein to mix with your hot coffee?   Do you mix it in the water when it's cool and then heat it up?  I thought about trying to make it that way but I dont' want to waste any more of my protein powder.

yes you mix it in with a small amount of cold water or milk - about 4 oz for me for one scoop - mix till smooth than pour into large cup of coffee as creamer/sweetener

I mix it for tim with milk and then add to coffee -

I start the morning off with a cup of coffee with SF creamer in it.  Drink some then when it has cooled down a bit (by the time I am ready to leave), mix it with my protein, pour into travel mug and add more coffee.

Teena.....I use IDS Cinnamon Vanilla Protein and it mixes very good with hot liquids.   Doesn't clump either and not too bad of a taste either.

TEENA-I have started using the unflavored "Any Whey", and I got it SPECIFICALLY to use in coffee-LORALEA turned me on to it. I mix it in a half cup of coffee to smoosh the few lumps out, then fill the cup up--ta da-all done! I can taste it a little-kinda like a weak creamer, but it's not bad at all, and it's 17gm of painless protein per scoop!

I use Nectar Cappucino Protein powder and make a latte every morning.  I put 1 c skim milk in my 16 oz. cup, heat it for 35 seconds in microwave, then put it under my Keurig spout and make a cup of coffee in it, add 2 equal pkts and 1 scoop protein powder and it doesn't clump.  I once early on threw out a whole container of this powder because I would try to use it directly into hot coffee and it clumped like you're talking about and was nasty.  You usually can't put it directly in w/o clumping.  I do the same w/ Creamy Vanilla Zerocarb Isopure and some sf syrup flavoring and the skim milk for other flavors.

I have never made it to the vent stage. I always forget and try it every once in a while and it always explodes all over everything!
