Today my son's GF is getting out of Detox and today I become a "B" !!!   No cell phone or car for either one of them and extremely strict house rules !!!!   She may rebell and if she does.....I will show her the front door of my house and ask her to leave.   I have found a church that has Celebrate recovery and it meets tonight from 5:30 - 9.   If she will go I plan on going with her.   Tomorrow my son will be released from his Detox in Dallas.   I pray that I can handle all this....trust me I am NOT a strong person at all and having to do this will either make me or break me !!!!  I pray NO ONE has to ever do what I am having to do.    I know that I CAN DO HARD THINGS THOUGH !!!  God will be beside me helping me do this all the way.   I saw my husband cry last night about my son and what he is going through.    When Shawn called last night....I told him.    He has NEVER saw his Daddy cry.   I pray that God will soften their hearts and have them get the much needed help that they need.  Please please pray for my family for the next weeks or months.   I have no idea what we are getting ourselves into.    Thanks and I love you guys so much.....Ya'll are my ROCK !!!!

Vivian I will pray for you.  I have to say that you need to find help for yourself.  Find a local Al-Anon meeting (don't get caught up in the alcohol part...it's for family members of all addictions).  They meet everywhere, every day, morning, noon and night.  There you can learn to love yourself enough take care of yourself, not others.  Your son's problems are his and until he learns to deal with them on his own, he'll always rely on you, and you always take care of him.  Break the cycle! You should come first always above all other people and you MUST work with your God to find peace in your actions, not the actions of others, with whom you must learn you have no control.  I don't normally offer up advice as it isn't my place, but you've thrown it all out there because you are hurting.  God bless you honey, because the hardest part of this will be your recovery.

Thank you Sara....I am planning on going to a meeting tonight at a church nearby that has meetings for addicts.   I know I need to take care of me too.   I wanted to lose a little weight....but really not this way.   I am taking my vitamins though and making sure I get my protein in.   Can't damage my health over this.

Vivian, I think you'll find that once you start taking care of yourself, your self will take care of you.  What I'm saying is that not only will you feel better physically and mentally, you'll probably drop the few pounds you were looking to.  Self discovery and recovery are amazing!

Hijack:  Karen where you been?  Sure have missed you.  In fact several of us were talking at the convention about how we missed our DJ and friend.  Nice to see you here again.

Viv,

I know what I am about to say is going to sound cold but you know you can tell them that they HAVE to do long term before they can come home.  You would be surprised at what being homeless can do to people.  I had to do that more times then I care to remember with Dan, and it sucked thinking of him on the streets in Boston or living in a homeless shelter, but it eventually worked!  You will continue to be in my prayers.  You know where I am if you want to talk.
