joint/nerve pain??
hey guys!! long time, no see!!
just wondering if any of you post ops (I am a little over two years out) are experiencing any joint/nerve (can't decide which) pain? I am trying to isolate the problem...shoulder, wrist, elbow, knee...maybe it's my age?? (just about to turn 51!)
wondering if glucosamine would help? can be absorb it?
any advice appreciated!!

How are your labs? I know there are more qualified people regarding vitamins but I seem to remember that can be a vitamin deficiency maybe? I also have it but it comes and goes. My knees are probably from years of putting so much weight on them and now I just do so much more but they even seem to be getting a little better. Second suggestion...something we don't do very often. Have you talked to your surgeon?

I can answer your question about the glucosamine - YES!
One of the guys at work is 6 years out RNY and is having joint pain in his knee. He started taking the liquid glucosamine and he said it has helped. It takes about 4 weeks to start feeling the effects (with anyone, WLS or not) so it isn't like a drug that works fairly quickly.
Hope you get some relief soon!

Diane, when were your last labs? Vitamin B-12, B-1, D-3 hydroxy, calcium, PTH, iron, ferritin. The nerve pain (if ithat is what it is can be the beginning of serious B vitamin Deficiencies). Joint and bone pain can be attributable to Vitamin D and calcium (if that is what you are feeling).
Call your PCP and get the extensive lab list drawn (I have it if you need it).
