I've noticed the hicc-up being quite dominent - or having to take a deep breath means I need to stop !!!  LIKE STOPPING NOW not when that next or last bite is gone !!

As for eating out:  When I get my food - I always ask for a to-go container - then I take off of the plate what I don't need to consume for that meal...............

another tip:   USE SMALL PLATES..............3" or 2".................plates at home............
saucers of sorts    - Make them colorful - special just for "you" !!
  • Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose.  Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email.  I'll answer it as soon as possible.

Most of my eating is done at work, as I work two jobs.  I pack the food in the small desert size Glad storage containers.  And I do not fill them up, go about 2/3 full.  Two veggie and one meat per meal.

I use small saucers and bowls. My 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food looks much better almost filling up a small bowl rather than barely covering the bottom of a regular soup size bowl. It's all about mind games, right?!?!

Having pretty dishes is also a treat. To keep from getting bored with the same colors and patterns all the time I buy my dinnerware at antique stores. You can find lots of single teacups and saucers versus whole complete sets and the designs and patterns are just beautiful.

I weigh and measure EVERYTHING.  I also make my own snack bags / 100 calorie portion packs of my favorites so I can just grab and go.

Along with the smaller plates and bowls, use smaller eating utensils for smaller bites. And pay attention to the full sign, mine is a sneeze or hiccup.

I put however much I want on my plate then take 1/2 of it back off and leave it in the kitchen.  That way I can eat it later if I'm still hungry.  I use salad plates for my meals and condiment cups for my snacks.

I always pack extra snacks for work so I have a variety of different things available.

I have a "snack basket" at home that's filled with acceptable snacks.  I always portion mine in snack size ziplocs so I can just grab something from my basket on the way out the door.

I also pack 1/2 of my dining out meal in a "to go" container as soon as the meal arrives.
