Loriliane.....THANK YOU so much for letting me know about this group. I will definately check it out. Today has been so very hard on me. Watching one of my son's taken into drug rehab. I know that God is in control of the situation though. One a positive note....my son took his Bible with him to rehab !!! I am praying that he will read it and that God will heal him of this addiction !!!!

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers today but let me suggest something..I know you love your kids but from seeing this from afamily member myself....If you dont have tough love and say son you got your self into this you can get your self out...it wont get any better...My sister did the same thing and as long as there was always someone to bail her out she never learned...I know it is hard for you being a mother but listen to everyone offering advice...You should only be there to love and listen to him not bail him out..HE WILL NOT LEARN..I know this is not what you want to hear but i will pray that you will have the strength to get through this..

Linda......I am doing tough love. He wanted us to pay his rent. I told him NO WAY !!!! We have paid his way out of stuff way too long. He is only 23 but still he needs to get clean and stay that way. He has never gotten totally clean before. It was so sad tonight when he called me and was talking out of his head. Guess he is getting clean now....praying that anyway.

Good morning, Vivian,
I'm so sorry to hear about all this. I went through hell with an ex-husband who is an addict. I physically threw him into my car to take him to a therapist. The therapist listened to my husband and then asked me a life changing question..."what's your part in all of this?". He wanted to know if I realized that I was enabling him to be an addict. His parents and I always rescued him. He got his act together with AA and I went to Alanon. Terrific groups! We divorced while he was clean and sober for many other related reasons. He relapsed, nearly drove his car off a spaghetti bowl in Houston. It was then that I decided to sever the relationship that started in 1976. Very painful stuff. I have no idea what he's doing these days. I want so very badly to check on him but my sanity and new life prevent me from getting sucked back.
Sorry for this litany, Vivian. You might want to consider a support group a la Alanon for families touched by addiction.

Viv you are definietly in my prayers. I am so thankful I haven't ever had to go through any of this. But from what others are saying maybe the GF's mother has had all she can handle and is going to make the daughter do this own her own. I am the worst mom when it comes to tough love and sticking to it but working with the type of kids I do I know that many times it is the only way to get them back.

Love you girl!!! Wish we could just take all of this away. You are such a sweet and caring person. You don't deserve all of this.

Thank you Teena for all the kind words that you said about me. Trust me.....I really haven't been real kind to my son nor his girlfriend this past week. In fact I told them that if they move in my house and screw up....they will both be on the streets. And I MEAN IT !!!!

Vivian,

I'm so sorry about what you and your family are going through. I'm praying that God will guide you and your family to the best solution.

I don't know of a single family who has not experienced problems because of drug addiction of one kind or another. It's hard on everyone involved. Sometimes I think it's hardest on those who are not addicted but have to deal with the crap that those with the addiction create. I know as a parent, I too would find it impossible not to try to help. My advice to you is to get some professional guidance about what you should and should not do. I agree with some of the other posters that you want to help but also be careful not to enable. Al-anon is one great resource. There are also others. You can dial 2-1-1 for information about other programs and a referral to a program in your area.

Just know that you are loved and prayed for and take strength and courage from the knowledge that you are not alone.
