~DENIED 4 VBG takedown and hernia repair due to WLS exclusion~

Ok, so here it is...I got word today that I was denied for the VBG takedown and hernia repair...due to WLS exlcusion by my employer !  They do not cover ANYTHING they consider "related to WLS"

So even though I have a obstruction in my pouch..causes food to release slow and me to throw up off/on for the last 9 years...I have been DENIED !

So I will try to see if my employer will grant an exception as the take down in necessary due to obstruction etc....

 Yep, cant beleive its true i work for a major Telecommunication employer and they dont cover WLS

Don't give up.  Keep pushing.  I am sure if there is a way to get it covered someone in Dr. B's office will know how to do it. 

Keep pushing and you might get something covered as "hernia repair."  I tried for years to get my RNY covered with that kind of exclusion and never won.  My company finally offered a different insurance policy that did cover it.  If I could have gotten a big enough loan, I would have done it out of pocket.  The WLS exclution is hard to get around, but it looks like you have enough of a medical need for a similar surgery that you might be able to get most of it covered.  The doctor has to code it for hernia repair rather that wls however.

I would get more information of this directly from your insurance carrier, then I would go to HR. I had to have a revision due to complications from a VBG and it was not considered weight surgery but more like emergency surgery to save my life. You can not live like this! Good luck! Katrina
