An AWWW moment (maybe more of a WOW)
My sister suggested I go get some "skinny jeans" and wear the high boots and a cute jacket for a couple of events I have been going to. Me? In Skinny Jeans? What are you smoking? There is no way that those will look good on me. I tried wearing my regular jeans that I have been wearing (should really replace, but haven't) with my new boots, and they didn't fit right. So back to my skirts and reliable slacks. I hadn't really been wearing jeans.
This weekend, I was at Old Navy and thought - ok I will try these skinny jeans on...I still dont think they will fit. I grabbed two pairs, one in the size I thought I was, and one in a larger. Off to the dressing room, dreading the thought of these skinny jeans...they wont fit, they wont look right, I am not thin enough for these, these just wont work. Yes, the mental beating that we ALL go thru was in full motion. I slid on the larger size, no good...to big and to long. Next size, just bunched funny. I put back on all my clothes and back to the jean section again. I grabbed the smaller of the two previously, and in a shorter length. I looked thru all the jeans determined to beat my mind in what was truth, I grabbed an even SMALLER size. Off to the dressing room again...this time a little bit of a spring in my step...first off the smaller of the first fit, but would this even smaller size fit? I didn't even think twice, I grabbed that smaller size, slid them right up and (drum roll please) THEY FIT! THEY BUTTON! And there was NO MUFFIN TOP! WOW!
I about ran out of the dressing room....screaming because THEY FIT. I wanted everyone to know! So you ask what size....well I hadn't really paid much attention to sizes lately, because everything was fitting funny...my body had been re-adjusting and moving things around, that some clothes that were 10s were still fitting, I had some Medium things but nothing in fitted pants. My skirts had been Juniors size 11 but what were regular women's clothes fitting on me... well I am the proud owner of a SIZE 6 SKINNY JEAN from OLD NAVY!
As I stood in the dressing room, I realized that I was in single digit clothes tops and bottoms! No more XXL clothing and no more 22 Pants/bottoms....I was now wearing a size 6! Me...I started to tear up as I stood looking in the mirror....I have changed so much in the last 10 months, but I still didn't "see" the skinny...I didn't see what everyone else saw...but I was starting to get a glimpse of it, I was starting to "GET" it....
It was a great weekend....so glad I didn't listen to myself and went right ahead and tried on those skinny jeans!
Thanks for letting me share

wow!!! i cant wait too have one of those moments. One thing i dream about is being able to go into a normal store and buy clothes and not have toopass them up for a store with a plus size section...Or that akward moment at the mall when you look into a store window and check the sections to see if they have a plus or womens section because you dont want to walk in because you would feel akward.....I hope im not the only one who does that.
there is something about an old navy size 6 that effects people that way - I was with a wls freind a couple of yrs ago when she got some n I thought we weren't going to get her out of there
that is a wonderful wow
