Obedient = an act or instance of obeying...which is "to conform or comply with"...

I am still maintaining at the same wt or a few oz. down.  I still have the carb monster on my back though.  Come Monday when I'm in my normal routine I'm going to kick him to the ground!

Today's plan:
lots of liquids
protein coffee being downed now
Atkins shake
Sbux sf decaf skinny CDL
Popcorn at Aggies game...maybe some pecans
Seafood gumbo and crawfish cornbread, salad for tailgating dinner
Who knows what else...dip, chip, dessert?

I will try to eat in moderation

What's your plan for today?

Karla

Yesterday there was no obedience on my part.  Lots of starchy carbs to fill the day including potato and macaronin salad... OY.  And the 'correction officer' scale let me know it.  So we keep at it.

Not sure what today brings food wise. it will be busy busy and that usually means trouble.  I will do my best.

I bought a bag of dry pintos.  They are real cheap and have much more protein than I first thought.  I will cook those up today and have them available for a filling fix.  Now if I could remember how to take the 'gas' out of them.  I think I have to put carrot slices in them.

I also need to be more aware of getting my water in today.

Becky, my mom puts a little baking soda in her beans to help with the gas.  Oh the pinto beans sounds yummy now I think I want to make beans this weekend too.  Do you add any type of meat (sausage, ham hock, chicken, beef, pork) to it?  My favorite is a ham hock bone with a little meat, yummy.

After you cook them, take about a 1/2 of cup and put it in the blender to thicken them up.  Add a little cheese and sour cream to the top of your bowl and add some extra protein......or better yet I wonder if adding blended cottage cheese or Ricotta cheese to the beans after they are cooked would taste good?  Hmmmm, my recipe mind is working this morning, lol.

dana,

My cousin taught me a no fail trick to making sure they are cooked thru.  I rinse the beans, put them in a pot, cover with water.  As soon as it boils, I cover them, turn it off and let them sit exactly one hour.  Then I rinse again, fill the water and the seasonings and let them cook a few hours.  I have salt pork I am going to add this time.

Tawnya, I heard as a kid to add some carrot to the pot and it would take out the gas.  I might do the baking soda stuff too.

I soak mine overnight, toss the water out the next morning and cook them in fresh water.  My Mammy always said that helped with the gas.  However, I have Beano around to help as well.  But beans sound heavenly.  Yum!

I'm going to cook today also.  We should post recipes this weekend and kind of trade off some ideas and get each other excited about protein!!  You in?  I'll go find a yummy budget friendly recipe.  Do you eat eggs?  Spinach?

Morning Karla!  Hope you have a safe trip to Aggie Land.  I didn't go overboard with eating yesterday but had I'm sure to many carbs, I didn't weigh this morning yet and probably won't because I'm already drinking coffee.

I need to plan some food for the next several days, Becky made me hungry for dried beans so I might concoct a new and improved higher protein bean soup.

I'm hanging in there this week even though my weight has been all over the board.  If you didn't read, my weight was up 9 pounds on Monday, and a total of 10 pounds by Tuesday.  I lost 6 by Thursday and another 2 down today.  I know it wasn't real weight, but it still made me hyper-aware of everything that went into my mouth this week.  Ended up eating lots of lean proteins and vegetables.  I did splurge and have wine last night, but thats about it on the "treats."  I don't have a plan past breakfast this morning, but here it is so far...

B: coffee / protein meal replacement
S: sf sport drink at the gym w/protein
L: ????
