Flex Spending Account for plastics??
Kris,
You can only use FLSA/HCRA monies for "medically necessary" items. If you have some PS considered MN, you could use it to pay the difference from insurance, but you can't do it otherwise.
For example, if you had breast cancer and required reconstruction, you could use the funds.
Otherwise, not so much.
HTH,
Rachel

Thanks Rachel...that's what I thought but I thought I'd throw it out there before wasting my time signing up for it. All of us have MN plastics issues after losing 100+ pounds...damn insurance should realize that. I'm not going to tie up money that I could just be saving as cash only to find I can't use it as it's needed and then have them "lose it" for me. It'd be good if I knew my daughter would be able to get braces this year or whatever. They keep wavering on yes this year/no not this year.
Back to using the sparklets water bottle for saving for plastics! LOL!

from my understanding ..yes. Obivously there are exceptions, but Obesity is a disease, it's defined by the AMA as a disease. Your insurance paid for your WLS (most likely) because it was treating the disease of obesity. If you have rashes, excess skin that can causes rashes, etc. It is a medical necessity.

I was unable to pay for plastics with my FSA because it was listed as one of the exclusions per our plan. I wanted to use the FSA because it would have allowed me to "finance" it for a year without actually having the money for it up front. Wishful thinking huh!
