home help for gas, bloating?

Ya'll know I'm in Singapore and will be for months to come, which is why I can't just go out and buy Pepto at the corner drug store. They don't do that here, except for a few OTC meds, if you need something, you go to a doctor, get a prescription, get it filled at the doctor's office, and pay cash up front. I don't know if Pepto would help, but I hate to go to a doc here if I don't have to, on the other hand, I'm miserable. I have had gas, bloating, burping, and sometimes constipation for a couple of months. Nothing I've done seems to help for more than a couple of days. I've been making the move 'em out's and the constipation is better, but the other is still with me. Talk about awful, try going to the chiropractor when you have this kind of thing going on! Is there anything I can make for myself, or eat, drink for myself? Yogurt helps if I eat 2-3 cartons a day, but that's a lot of dairy and sugar, and it's not a sure fix either. Help!

I think Gas-X strips are the best-they dissolve on your tongue. Not sure if you have them or if you have someone that could mail you some. Good Luck and I hope you feel better!

couple of real basics besides the higher fiber foods - like move em out muffins - add more water and more movement - both help with gas and keeping things moving - try adding in some yoga type movements to basic cardio - the bending and streaching really do help - as does the water - remember if you get low on water your body will pull it out of your bowels and that makes for constipation - more water in the system, less being snitched back from your bowels - extra water equals MORE in your bowels and that equals easyer bathroom trips

just my 2 cents -other than the ocasional gas X (if I have more than one peice of chocolate) and the couple of times a yr I get off track and end up using a fleet  - that is all I do and stay pretty reg.

black licorise tea will move things along also - state side it's sold as smooth moves - works over night

Thanks ladies, Gas-X not available here, but exercise and water are. I'll also see if one of the daughters can slip some Gas-X in with the next batch of mail they send.

One other thought - you might try to narrow it down to what food(s) is causing the gas and bloat issues.  I typically find it's something that my body doesn't like... for me it's eggs... Boy, do I regret eating them AND broccoli - don't ask me why, but either or will give me horrible gas and bloating for 24 hours and no one wants to be near me when they work their way downward...

As for constipation - Benefiber also makes a chewable tablet that's pretty tasty (fruit flavors) and you might have someone send you that as well.  When I'm traveling, I add this to my vitamin regime to help stay regular.   Lastly, try adding oatmeal to your daily intake if possible.  The amount of fiber works well to keep things moving.

Good luck!
