Our day at the Fair

Spent about 6 1/2 hours at the State Fair of Texas.  Had a great time.  Mary and I went and we had invited one of my co-workers from the part time job.

We got down there at 9:30, but the exhibits don't open until 10.  Got a great parking spot.  We had not eaten, so we bought $20 in food coupons.  Went and got a quesadilla, which Mary and I split.  It was 13 coupons or $6.50, but being a Fair, you don't look at the $$ cost.

After that we went to find the frying pan Mary wanted.  Very expensive, but very good.  We got the pan for $120.  Paid cash so got a discount equal to sales tax.  He tried to sell us a set that included the pan for $499, but we already have most of the pans that were in that set.  Not all, but most.

Then we went and found the belts we wanted.  We had them custom made, matching.  Mine says Grandpa and hers says Grandma.  We also have the names of all the grandkids on the belt.  We also got Grandma and Grandpa tee shirts.   I got green, Mary got burgundy.

We went through a couple of exhibit halls and got to taste some food.  Quesodillas, beef with a BBQ sauce that was pretty good.  Good enough that we bought 3 bottles for $10.

Tried out a massage chair that was awesome.  But $2900 is out of my league.  Also looked at a mattress topper that I may have to save up for.  It has dual controls for the two sides of the bed.  You can set the temperature for as low as 46 degrees or as high as 118.  They say it saves on electricity because you don't have to run your a/c or heat as high/low as normal.  Sounds right to me.  Don't know how long it would take to save that much money ($600) but it is interesting.

Found sugarfree fudge, as usual.  Got Mary a peanut butter fudge, then also got a chocolate (no nut) and a vanilla for us to share.  She will get 1/4 of each of the last two.  We do this every year, when you finish your fudge, you are done.  You leave the other person's alone.

All in all, it was a great day.  Get out there and enjoy it if you can.  (We are both sore today from all the walking and standing on concrete, but it was well worth it)

Hey George,

You and Mary had a great time.  I know we had a great time at the fair while we were in Dallas.  Have a good weekend.

Sounds great Georgie, but I thought we were going to have a TMB day at the Fair?  (or did that fall through?

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

Just because TMB has a day at the fair means I can't go on my own?  Sorry, but I go the same day every year.  The first Wednesday in October.  Also, didn't even know that/if TMB was doing anything at the fair.  I don't do the Midway or the food, so I choose to go midweek when the whole fair is at its slowest.
