Grocery Store Bargains

We have a Foodsaver. It must be an older model because I don't see it on their website but it works great. John and I each had one when we got married but he had one model up from me so we sold mine. His has the attachment to do the vacuum canisters. We have never used it. I wouldn't pay extra for it.

We buy the rolls instead of the bags and then we just make our own bags whatever size we need. I have off brand rolls right now and it is working fine. We also make the bags a little big and then after we use it we turn it inside out and run it through the dishwasher and reuse it once or twice. BUT we have a sanatizing dishwasher...

I haven't tried any other brands of sealers so I can't say if it is any better or worse but I would definately recommend getting one. Any time meat goes on sale, especially the family packs, we buy some, season it and seal it piece by piece. That way if it is just John and I we only have to thaw out one piece of meat but if Weldon is going to be there we just pull out another. So much less waste and NO freezer burn! I also really like the way it marinates as it thaws. Time saver IMO.

Wow...I sure miss TEXAS!  I don't have any of these stores near my home now that I live in Arkansas!  I use to have a Kroger right around the corner from me....

Stephanie thanks for the sale update. I quit taking the paper about 6 months ago and the only thing I miss is the grocery sale ads and the TV Guide on Sunday. I got tired of throwing out papers still wraped in the plastic sacks.  Good Luck on you Yard Sale this weekend.

I don't take the paper either.  My sale ads come in the mail on Tuesday.  I also have my favorite (Tom Thumb, Kroger and Sprouts) bookmarked on my computer so I can just go there and see them.  If you're not getting them, I'd be asking the mailman why not!!

I only get Brookshires ads in the mail.  So like you I use the internet.  Anything to save a dollar.

Not a grocery store bargain, but a bargain non-the-less.  I recently started taking zegerid for my ppi and their website offers a coupon of up to $30 off of your out of pocket Rx expense.  My copay is $30 so it is free for me!  Free is GOOD!

Great idea Stephanie!  I am blessed I have Kroger, Tom Thumb, Sprouts, Albertsons, Super Target and WalMart all around me.
As for the food saver I love mine!  I buy meat when it is on sale and freeze the rest, saves money.  I use the cannisters and hose to marinate and tenderize meat as well as keeping fruit and veggies fresh in the fridge.  The cannisters will not crush and bruise fruits and veggies.
I can't wait to try your cooking suggestions!
