The NIGH****CHMAN - Tuesday 10/6
Sure, I'm all wound up and can't sleep and there's no new thread tonight. I'm just teasing you. :) I can't wait to read about the Fair.
I got up this morning, went through the job postings. Nothing worth applying for. Packed and drove up. I made it to Arlington and found where my pre-interview mixer was at 4pm. Then I found a Starbucks so I could change clothes and use their wi-fi to do some additional research so I didn't go in looking like a complete amateur. The mixer was supposed to be 6-7pm. I finally got in my car at 7:40. I seemed to make decent connections with the Regional Vice President, the Regional Sales Manager and the Area Sales Director, but I had the National HR Director completely enamored with me. He and I come from similar backgrounds and we spoke the same language. He appreciated a lot of my questions and seemed like he may champion me tomorrow as I go through the official interview process.
I got to Rick & Nicole's around 8:40. I had a glass of wine to try to chill out and calm down. It worked while I was drinking it, but now that it's out of my system I'm all wound up again which is not good. My alarm is set for 5:30 and I have to be on the road to Arlington by 6:15 for my 7:30 interview. I used to operate well on very little sleep at my old job so I'm hoping I can pull it off tomorrow.
I also have a first interview tomorrow afternoon, but I'm interviewing with the president of the company so I think there may only be one interview before they make a hiring decision. I'll find out for sure tomorrow. That's the job I really, really want. After my morning interview and before I pick Rick up to take him to the airport, I need to do some more research on the company. I've been so focused on getting through tomorrow morning, I'm feeling somewhat unprepared for the afternoon.
Good night (hopefully I'll fall asleep if I close down my laptop). Prayers for all who need them.
