Randy and I went in for our pro op classes today. We will start the pre op diet on Sunday.

The diet is slimfast 5 to 6 times a day, and protien shakes in between if we want. We know it is going to be hard, but well worth it. Randy is expected to also quit smoking then. I am glad I don't have that to deal with. Although I may have to deal with his nervousness, and anger.

We are also going sat for our last supper. we and friends will be going out to eat lunch at our favorite asain food place, then hitting a few bars, then eating streak later that evening.

Good luck to both of you.  Follow the doctor's orders.  And remember walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

I was so worried about making it through the liquid diet.  Once I got past the second day it wasn't too bad.  I just stayed busy which kept me from thinking about eating.  Plus once you get to the point where your surgery is in just days you seem to just have the right mind frame or at least I did.

Good luck over the next few weeks.  Enjoy your last supper.

I know protein is expensive but spend the money on good tasting protein.  It's well worth it.  I'm over 2 years out and still drink a protein drink nearly everyday.  Go to GNC cuz if you hate it, they'll take it back.  I also "freeze" mine and eat it like ice cream and it makes you feel full longer.

Good luck to you both and keep us posted.  If Randy needs help on the quitting smoking, give me a shout-if I can do it anyone can.  I quit after 34 years of 1 1/2 packs a day.

The "last supper" is only temporary-I eat steak at least once a week with no problems.  Glad to have a couple of newbies joining us!!

Enjoy your last supper!!!  Have a blast and live (and eat) it up!  Try to make a mental note to say goodbye to that way of life and that behavior.  That's what I did the day before my liquid diet started, and I'm glad I did.  Good luck with the liquid diet, and the quitting smoking.  My advice with the liquid diet is try to keep yourself preoccupied to get your mind off of hunger, it will get easier after the first couple of days.

I work 3:30 pm to midnight. I am debating about weather to work the full night before my surgery or not.

One thought is that being at work would be good for me, because I would not be sitting at home getting the negitive thoughs because of too much idle time. Another way I could do it is to come in 4 hours early that day and get off at 8 pm and try to get to bed early.

I dont know yet what time I will need to be at the hospital. That will play a role in my dession. I should find that out this coming friday.

What are yalls thoughts on this?

I would work if it was me.  My surgery was scheduled for 4 PM so I stayed up all night playing on the computer so I could keep drinking my liquids until 8 hours before surgery time.  I went to bed at 6 am then got up, showered and went to the hopsital at 2 pm.  It worked out great for me.

Best of luck on your pre-op diet!  I start mine on Monday, the 12th.  I'm a little nervous that the week will go by soooo slow.

Write down a list of goals that you have for losing weight and refer to that during your liquid diet week.  It can be your "light at the end of the tunnel".

If you have not already, find some protein powders that you like.  It's been a little trial and error for me.  I found some at www.bariatriceating.com that I love.  They sell flavors like Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge, Caramel Latte and Cinnamon Cappuccino.  They're pretty yummy!

Hang in there...you are not alone!  Enjoy your last supper.  :  )  If you come across any tips that get you through the week PLEASE SHARE....
