Rogaine for Women???
Does it work? Is there any reason I shouldn't try it? My hair is so bad I can see my scalp thru my hair. I saw at Target today, a 3 month supply of the generic women's rogaine for 18.99...I figure, what could it hurt? Are there any reasons not to try it?
Thanks guys!!!
By the way, yes, I'm getting in tons of protein, taking chewable 60mg iron pills daily...and my hair was fine to begin with before surgery.

Kim,
I have never tried the Rogaine, but I can tell you that Biotin a vitamin has helped me a lot with my hair not falling out and it is alot less expensive then Rogaine. I think it took about a week and I started noticing a difference. It helps my hair and also makes my nails harder. Anyway just a thought. Good luck. Keep us posted. Michelle
I had fine and thin hair to begin with. But when mine got really bad I not only used biotin I also Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. You can get it at places like Ulta. The good news is now at 2 years out my hair is thicker than it has ever been. I still have one spot that is thin but not too bad. The amazing thing is before surgery my hair was really straight now it's curly.
I've always had thin hair, especially right on top. Last year my dermatologist told me to use full strength generic rogaine. Not the foam and not the "women's" version. Said you are wasting your money. Took 3 months of twice daily use to start seeing the difference. Now I have a much fuller head of hair - all of my co workers can tell the difference.
Costco has it for about $20 for 3 bottles. You have to do it twice a day but once you get it going then you can cut back to once a day..or at least it works for me.
BUT if you stop all together then your hair will go back to being thin again...
Cheers, Tee

Rogaine might help if you are loosing your hair because of female pattern baldness, but it sounds like that isn't the case. It won't help for hair loss caused by the surgery or malnutrition. Try Bioten. Some people have success with that. It takes about 3 months to really see a difference in anything. Hair loss to some extent will happen any time you have a major surgery, and if 3 months ago you didn't get enough protien or iron, it will just now be showing up. It gets better.
