New...
Hi, I'm Michaela and I'm new here.
I am thinking about having the lap band surgery done and wanted to get as much info as I can before I make my decision. I would be really grateful to anyone who can tell me what to expect, things they've encountered along the way, etc. And if anyone has any experience with Dr. Wright in San Antonio, TX, opinions on him and his practice would be welcomed too. I want to make as informed of a decision as I can. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

WElcome Michaela. I didnt have lapband so I can't help you there but I did want to welcome to the boards.
If you don't get much of a response today please repost on Monday. There is a big OH convention here in Dallas that starts today so many of people that would normally respond may not be on the boards today or this weekend.

Hi Michaela,
I'm new too. I bet you'll get the information you are looking for here. The members have been super nice and very helpful to me.
I'm in San Antonio too! I have had consultations with two doctors so far. I'm seeking a revision from a failed VBG procedure (from 1992.) Don't know when I'll have my surgery yet, but I'll try to follow your journey. If you need some support, don't hesitate to message me.
Welcome and all good things!
Mary

Hi Michaela,
I had lapband in October of 2008. I am sure I can answer your questions.... Well you can expect to be off work at least 5 days. I had my surgery on a Thursday and I was back at work on Tuesday of the next week. I am a admin assistant so I am at a desk all day, so if you stand at your job or walk around you might need to take a little additional time off. I have really had a very good experince with the surgery and the band. Dr. Benivides in Richardson Texas performed my surgery. The only thing that I have had an issue with is my allergies tend to create excess phlegm (sp)??? and sometimes that causes me to have an upset stomach. I also sometimes get acid reflux which I did not have before the surgery, however the Dr. put me on nexium and it is getting better. The fills are painless for me. If you do what the doctor says ,take your vitamins, eat slow, take baby bites, and drink lots of water. You will do great. I have lost 135 lbs so far, and I believe this is the best thing I have ever done. I hope this helps you, if you have anymore questions please let me know.
