5 day update...more boring stuff!
This will be just another boring, non-dramatic report! I keep reading about the folks just out of surgery a few days who are in tears, having second thoughts, etc and I keep waiting for that to hit but it hasn't. Every day has been an adventure! It's interesting to learn how to understand what my pouch is telling me, to interpret it's pressures and sounds!
I'm adding one new food from my list every day. Yesterday it was Cream of Wheat. Pouchie definitely prefers warm to cold! Today a thinned it out, added a teaspoonful of SF cherry jam and a tablespoon of SF vanilla syrup and it tasted like a sweet cherry tart! For breakfast it's going to be good for the carbs I need to get the day going and a different sweetness than the shakes. Since I don't feel full I'm measuring everything and when it's gone I'm done!
Speaking of shakes, today is the first day I've had a shake since surgery. My original plan was to get most of my protein this first week from Isopure Zero Carb drinks as well as some fluids. Thursday night and Friday it was OK but as I've learned what this pouch is telling me, last night I discovered that every sip of it made my pouch hurt. I think at first I just put it all off to gas pains! So today has been back to shakes and just plain water. Not knowing if that pressure was gas or a pouty pouch I stayed away from the creamed soups today. Todays menu...
B-Cream of What mixed with 1% milk, cherry jam and SF syrup
L-Lean Desserts Cinnamon Bun shake mixed with 1% milk, 1 T Hazelnut SF syrup
Sn-SF Popcicle...todays new food, pouch doesn't like the cold!
S-Unjury chicken soup
LNS-BA vanilla shake mixed with water and SF Peach syrup
Totals.....
Cal. 563
Carbs 44
Fat 11
Proteins 82
Fiber 6
So I think I'm doing OK for the 5 day post-op. Constructive criticism welcome! I still have a little bit of gas pressure that gets up high so I'll be glad when it's all gone! I do need to increase my walking but I'm working on that tomorrow. The pain meds have worn off and my knees are killing me again! I have plenty of energy, haven't been hungry or had any cravings...none of some of the other things reported. I'm already glad I've had this surgery. I finally stepped on the scale today out of curiosity and have lost 8lbs since leaving the hospital....the 4lbs of fluids I gained there plus another 4lbs. I plan to stay off the scale until I see Dr. Garth on Thursday.

ANT acid? Will Fireants do?!?
Not yet...eggs will be next on the pureed/mushies phase starting Friday. I'll be experimenting in Dallas!
Right now I'm taking my Multi-Vit and 2 crushed RX meds, as per Dr. Garth. On my list of questions for him Thursday is when I can add the rest of my Vits. Never thought I'd miss them!

Good to hear from you Dee. You are doing great!
Do NOT experiment in Dallas - especially eggs! I was two years out before I could handle scrambled eggs, and still can only do soft scrambled. Most restaurants cannot handle an order of soft scrambled - they either make them too hard or they come out raw.
Can't wait to hear the rest of your journey!

Thought I wrote back to you lastnight, I guess the OH gremlins got it or I am delusional! That could go either way! Yes fire ants work and they are high in protein!!Be real careful about experimenting at conference since you don't know how you will react to anything and I would hate for you to miss anything because some new food made you sick! (Now that is a run on sentence!!) So looking forward to meeting you and getting to know you better!

First, just wanted to let you know. Never boring. We love reading about others successes. And aiding people who are having problems.
Second, I don't know how others feel, but I would not experiment while in Dallas. That is just me. The reason I say this is what if it is a problem and because of it you miss a session. I would save the experimenting for while you are home. But that's my opinion.
Third, best advice I can give. You are seeing the Doc on Thursday, check with him, see what he thinks. He is the expert.
Regardless. Best of luck and keep on keeping on. See you this weekend.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Be........careful.......with........eggs. Some people have lots of problems with them so be close to the bathroom when you try them. I still struggle with eggs if I eat them too fast or not chew them enough no matter how soft they are.
Your intake looks great Dee. How is your water intake going? I didn't have problems either out of surgery except nausea, nothing got stuck or no puking for me either. The first time I threw up I was 18 months post-op and got a piece of beef roast stuck. I still have problems eating beef roast.

Uh-Oh...I forgot about the adverse reaction thing! I should have known that part, I've heard ya'll caution about it often enough. I'll be good and just continue with the full liquids until I get home!
See....I'm gonna be in excellent hands the whole weekend!
Dana....I'm getting about 50oz of fluids if you count the shakes and everything. But I do need to add some plain water to get it up a bit more.
