Just joined today

I decided to join today as my surgery date is about 6-7 weeks from now.  I was originally scheduled for next month, but my MIL canceled coming to help out, so my surgeon was nice enough to reschedule for when my dh is back from his deployment.  I'm a little nervous.  I've met one other woman locally who has had the lapband (which is the route I'm going), and am attending a "support group" tomorrow night.  I think the biggest issue I'll have is dh has the metabolism of a jack rabbit and loves to eat  and will most likely have problems with me not being able to join him.

We have 3 kids (11, 9, and 1 next week (sob)) and I have no idea what else to say, but really wanted to introduce myself before jumping in any threads.

First of all, I need a first name for you.  The only woman I ever called Evil was my mother-in-law (just kidding... maybe).

Second welcome to the board.  There is a lot of support here.  Use it.  A lot of lap banders.  Listen to them.

Any WLS you get is only as successful as you allow it to be.  Follow the doctor's orders.  If he says no, it is no.  That simple.

Boy did I read your kids wrong.  I thought you have two and ONE next week and was wondering why they would do WLS so soon.  Duh.

Support groups are a must.  And there is no substitute.  An in person support group.  My doc insisted on support group for the first year.  That is definite.  After that, he is satisfied that I choose to be very active on the OH boards.  That is my support group of choice right now.  We did have one from this board that was structured and met on Sundays and Wednesdays, which Sunday afternoon worked well for me since I work overnight, but now they meet on Wednesdays.

I am 58, married, 2 kids, and 6 grandkids.  I am the NIGHT WATCHMAN.  Stop by and make yourself at home.

Any more questions, feel free to ask.  And I am sure some lap banders will add their comments here for you.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Welcome to TMB! I just had my RNY surgery and I couldn't have made it through this last year without the support of these boards on OH. You'll get lots of valuable information from people who have been there, done that!

Sorry about the screen name LOL.  I went with that because that's what my son has been calling me under his breath all weekend.  I made him, gasp, clean!  I know!  Truly evil.  Anyhow, my actual name is Amanda.
