Support groups Austin TX???

Hi everyone,

I usually post on the VSG forum and will have VSG on 10/19 by Dr. Alvarez in Mexico.  I was wondering if there are any support groups in Austin Tx... hopefully for VSG... but if not that, then just general bariatric surgery support groups?

 I recently asked on the forums whether there are any DS support groups in the Austin/Central TX area, but the nearest one of those is apparently in north San Antonio. 

  Dr. Ganta, who does different kinds of WLS, is located in Austin, so I wonder if he might have a support group there ..   You might call his office to find out, if you don't get a response here.  

Both Seton and St. David's hospital systems offer support groups.

I have looked too and mostly found San Antonio. I had my surgery before I moved here but really miss my support group back in Washington. I think it was one thing that kept me on track and I feel like since I moved here I haven't been on track at all. I will have to check into the hospital groups-- see if they are okay with outsiders ? :)

Hey Erica,

Just wanted to let you know I checked with Seton and they have no problems whatsoever with outsiders.  The meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of every month at Seton Medical Center in the McFaddin auditorium..  The next 2 dates are Oct 8 and Nov 12.

I'm going to check it out.  Hope to see you there.
