Prayers for my church please
Hey prayer warriors. I need to ask for prayers for my church right now. We found out about some internal problems with our pastor and elders, and church staff yesterday and I'm very concerned about our church. I'm super stressed about it and dreamed all night about the problems. I'm worried that no matter how this is resolved our church will be split with the very real possibility of losing a number of good people over it.
Please pray for guidance and clear thinking as we move through this. I have a great deal of respect for both sides involved and am having a real hard time figuring out where I stand and what I should do.
Thanks!

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE; COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS THAT I CAN; AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE !!!! THIS IS MY DAILY PRAYER.

DEBBI-You have my prayers. My church is going thru a similar struggle. Sometimes these things are necessary. A church is a family, and there will always be disagreements within a family. Change is hard, but often change is necesary to grow, and to reach the "un-churched", which should be our mission. Keep your eyes on the ultimate "Leader"

We Can Do Hard Things
Debbie,
I will pray for your church. Our church starting at the highest level is experiencing a complete split with congregations and members. It's just like Gina said, we have to grow and change, but many aren't willing to do that. Being a preachers' kid, I know that churches deal with the same issues in politics and amongst the sexes, so to speak. Guess that's why we aren't to talk about sex, religion or politics.
Within our synod here in South Texas we have 3 or 4 churches that are voting to leave the ELCA, on the CHANCE, that somewhere down the road, a minister may be interviewed to come to their church and be in a committed monogamous gay relationship. What are the odds? Not much, but they are jumping ship over it now
The hard part is where you are. You are close to both sides and probably can see both sides of the issue. Best thing is just giving it to God and know that, in the end, it will work out. Maybe not the way you hope, but it will work out.
Sending hugs and looking forward to the REAL ones in a few days.
