Watchng people eat

I ate lunch at Fuddruckers today - was just in the mood for a really good hamburger. While I was eating my 1/2 of a small patty wrapped in a lettuce leaf, I was watching the guy across from me, who ate two of the largest burgers, fries, beans, a milkshake, and a soda.

It breaks my heart when I see someone eating themselves to death. At my heaviest I couldn't have eaten half of what he ate. He was maybe 30, and weighed probably 400 lbs.  Good looking guy too.

I debated speaking to him about weight loss surgery, but I know I would have been mortified if someone had done that to me.

Makes me sad.

I  know  you cannot  save everyone   but  you can  try    what i do is approach  them  And  let  them know how i felt when i was like that  and  how  my life has  changed    if   you  meet  me  i do not care about modification  but about  life    it breaks y heart  to see someone  dying from  obesity and don't  know    i  don' t  expect  any thanks    i  receive  my  thanks  by Gods WORD  HE SAID   HE WILL GIVE  US LIFE  MORE ABUNDANTLY

You don't expect any thanks?  I doubt you will get any from some poor person you make feel like crap about themselves.

Lynne I know what you mean  - I one time did go up to soemone and I was shaking - it was a sub prof but it was hard to do but he was young with a new wife and hoping for a family -

While you are patting yourself on the back for eating "1/2 a small patty wrapped in a lettuce leaf" try to remember that you have a surgically altered stomach. 

I'm not "patting myself on the back". Where did you get that idea?

I'm sorry but I disagree with y'all. Who made y'all the food police?  These people know about weight loss surgery.  You can't turn on the TV, listen to the radio, turn on the computer or read a newspaper without seeing an ad for WLS.  Plus, everyone is having it done.  I'm sure they know someoone who has had it.  If they are READY to make the change they will.  You don't have any idea what these peoples cir****tances are.  Maybe they desperately want it but their insurance doesn't pay or the can't afford it or they are not a candidate due to medical reasons.  Approaching them is just going to make them feel worse.  Believe me, they KNOW they are fat and need to lose weight.  They don't need some stranger approaching them while they are chowing down and reminding them of it.  Mind your own business is my advice to you.

Don't know you but I do agree! I would have bawled if someone had done that to me back then and been totally mortified!! Now that being said there ars segways into it bthat are kind if a conversation is started up if you are careful and gentle!!

I'm really hurt at your reaction. I did NOT go up to him. I wanted to, because I wanted to share this wonderful gift I"ve been given. As far as "these people know about weight loss surgery" - maybe I'm stupid but I didn't know much about it before I started researching it.
