I've had a pretty good week food-wise this week.  Still down at lowest pt. during this month.  Need to kick it up a notch next week exercise wise.

I'll be tailgating all weekend. I'm not gonna promise I'll be a totally good little girl, but will get in needed liquids, protein , vits, supplements and try to resist some temptations.  I'm not providing anything but a dessert, but do have protein and nuts/fruit packed for snacks.  I know I'll eat some popcorn at the game and a lemon bar or two.  I will get plenty of hiking in around the A & M campus to counteract the bad stuff!

Today's plan:
lots of liquids
protein coffee already downed
Atkins shake
taco meat/beans/cheese for lunch
beef fajitas for dinner
1 lemon bar

What's your plan?

don't forget someone else needs to post on Saturday and Sunday!

I'll be computerless unless I get a chance to get ahold of Ben's or my sister's wireless...doubt she takes it though unless she's got to grade some online papers.

morning,

Yesterday was great till 9pm when I stuffed my face with popcorn . Oh and the gross canned tamales for dinner.  I wonder what my appetite is thinking when it wants something like that.

Scale punished me up to 155.8, but I deserve it and will get back at again today.  Plan will ditto breakfast and lunch from yesterday.  Dinner will be something healthier.

As this month winds down in a week or so, my BTB will become Back to beans and bologna.  Due to many obstacles financially (can you say EX) I must cut down on grocery expenses along with other things.  So I will be researching the cheapest way to get protein in and stay on track. The meat and dairy that jack up my expenses will be on hold for a while.

make it great everyone.

Becky - just a thought from a budget perspective...

I make a LOT of baked chicken for several reasons:

1)  Freezes and reheats well
2)  It's CHEAP!!!  and available in multiple forms
3)  It stays moist
4)  High in Protein, low in fat
5)  It's CHEAP, oh wait, I already said that!!!!

Don't know if you've thought of this, but you can often find chicken quarters for $.99 p/lb on special at Kroger and every day low price at WM is around $1.10 p/lb (give or take depending on package size.

Also, if you buy pinto beans dry and cook them in a crock pot or on the stove you can save a lot of money vs buying canned beans - same thing goes for black bean, lima beans, black eyed peas and a few others :)

I can't get a chicken breast down to save my life because it's too dry, but baked chicken goes down fine.  Just add a little water to the pan, cover with foil and cook @ 350 for 1-1.5 hours.  It rocks!!!

Good luck!

lisa,

Thanks for the ideas.  I know my parents to buy chicken quarters in bunches and freeze them in small packs. I need to just take the time to do that when I find a deal.  I am planning to lean more on beans and peanut butter, lower priced cheeses, things like that.  There are other things with protein that we just aren't aware.

I know my biggest issue is going to the grocery on Sunday and buying $100 to 125 in groceries.  Then I have forgotten something by Tuesday and i go back and it's another $50!  I have to take the time to make one list, get it all, get stuff that will last and stretch it.

thankfully I can eat chicken but I agree the breast is harder to digest without some type of sauce or juices or something.

I think I will try to work on a thread about cheaper options and see what other ideas we can come up with.

Sorry to hear things are going rough for you right now.  You said PB.  I get mine at walmart.  My Walmart has a double pack of the big jars of Jif for $9.  We eat LOTS of PB at my house.  And that last me for over a month.  I get GREAT meat buys at Kroger if you have one close or at HEB.  I buy the family packs and put them in freezer bags.  I understand your finacial struggles.  I buy lots of hamburger meat.  It's cheap and my family likes just about anything made with it.

I completely understand and in fact, LOVE beans - they're one of my favorite sources of protein!!!   With that being said, I bulk bought them and measure out 2 cups to cook at a time.  Add an onion and lean ham, slow cook for 8-10 hours and it's divine.   I'll add that you can freeze them too and thaw/reheat for a later day.

You can also take the previously cooked beans and make your own low-fat version of refried beans, or add more water, taco seasoning (super cheap), veggies and have a version of taco soup.

Personally, I don't do so well with peanut butter (too much fat), but I'm a huge fan of beans!!!

Just had my whole grain cheerios. Protein bar for snack, salad for lunch, an apple w/peanut butter for snack, and havent made up my mind yet about dinner.

Yesterday went well, except for the English Toffee I ate... We had steamed shrimp with veggies for dinner. Was good. BTW, HEB has their wild white gulf shrimp, head off, on sale for 3.99 and they will steam it for you with whatever flavor you like.

I would like to help you but you cant fix stupid.

Mostly on track for the month!   Did my first 5K and completed it, in the mountains :)

So, food wise I could have made better choices and the scale is frozen this month, however I'm losing inches again and my 14's are very baggy....

On track for today with meal's cooked at home.  Treating myself to Subway for lunch, but otherwise on track.

Have a great and fun weekend all!
