BABY after Bypass???
When I say we have decided to have another baby, it's not like "Oh, let's have another baby....go off the birth control, etc. etc...." No....it's us committing to jumping through all the fertility hoops we had to jump through to have this sweet baby boy who is now 5! With that said, financially it's all coming out of our pocket up until we conceive and then the insurance will take over (thank God!).....
My question here today is this.....for those of you who know, have been through it or know someone that has had a baby after Gastric Bypass, WHAT should I be concerned about??? If we're lucky enough to conceive I certainly want to do all I can to make it a successful and healthy pregnancy. I'm concerned because I don't think I get enough nutrition or the right amounts of everything just for ME, much less a baby..... Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!
I know I need to and will be in contact w/my Bariatric surgeon.... in the meantime I would love some feedback from all of you.
Thanks so much and hope to see you at the Dallas Conference!!
other than that you are probably more aware now of what vits to take and healthy foods then you were 5 yrs ago so you are good to go
I had my little one at just over 2 yrs out- you may or may not have been around the TMB at that time - my pg was crazy but that was just b/c I am not good at pg and had other health issues NOT related to my WLS
good luck to you - babys are special no matter how you have to get them
I know what I need to do - I have to choose to take care of me or I choose to fail
Look me up at the conference and we can compare notes. We've been trying for a few months and I've got lots of info.
Talk to you soon!

I'd definitely reccommend my OBGYN or her partner.

Other than just ensuring that you get enough protein/carbs/vitamins, etc, pregnancy was a breeze for me, although Ian arrived early of his own accord. I'm currently a little heavier than I'd like to be, but still succcessful from a WLS perspective.
Any particular questions, let me know here or via PM.

I am a little concerned by the comment that you made about you not getting enough nutrition right now for yourself. If you are still losing weight, I would seriously think about getting pregnant. If you are stable, that is a different story. I got pregnant after RYGB and was not getting enough nutrition for me. I was sent home on bedrest for a month and then put in the hospital on bed rest for a month an a half before they induced labor at 36wks. She was healthy when she was born, but it was a VERY long pregnancy. I was on IV nutrition because she stopped growing. My OB/GYN has a lot of experience with RYGB patients and told me in the beginning that his patients usually have no problem because the baby gets what they need before you do. My OB is in the Downtown Dallas area if you would like his information. I am not trying to scare you, just want you to think about it. I lost weight during my pregnancy, even with IV nutrition.
